Dear All,

With regard to the work authorisation, there is some talk about the MBA provision being scrapped this year. I have heard this from students at Strathclyde MBA (an existing HSMP listed school). But I have also heard that the International Graduate Scheme which currently allows you to automatically work for 1 yr maybe extended to 2 yrs. However, no official announcements are out yet.

Companies will apply for your work permit, provided they reallyyy need your skills/ expertise. From my research, it's usually the financial companies and IT companies that are more open to applying on your behalf, if they value your services.

One generic strategy would be to secure a job under the IGS, work for a year and then utilize the benefits of a UK salary to score well for the HSMP. Lancaster students get a discount of £250 on the HSMP which brings the cost to around £750.

Work permits procured via a company will obviously be tied to your employment with that company. If you quit, your work permit stands void.

Hope that answers your questions.

Cheers
Harsha

Hrishi,
that's correct, there are no seperate essays in the app other than the SOP.
Good luck!

Re: Lancaster 2008; interviews & beyond - 05-02-2008, 05:34 PM

Hi,
I applied to Lancaster for 12 months MBA programme on 4th Feb.
My queries are:
1. How long will it take to get the application processed and status updated?
2. In didnt find any place in the application form for the GMAT score. Does the GMAT score not required for the admission? If it is required, how to send it to them.
3. Is TOEFL Mandatory? I have not appeared for the test yet. If its mandatory, what will be the fate of my application?

It will be of great help if i receive the reply to these queries.
Thanks
Pradeep

Hi Anil, harsha,

have got a mail from the admissions office to get in touch with an Alumni from Lancaster and have a face to face meeting if possible. has anyone had an Alum interview before? Am just curious to know what they would be interested in? Coz the admissions office would go ahead based on the Alum's feedback.

Somya,

Are you done with your iview? How did it go?

Cheers

Hi Hrishi,

My intervw was very very basic.. the person interviewing me hadnt gone thru my resume/essay.. so asked me abt my work exp and kind of role.. what i enjoy doing the most and why lancaster...

more or less she was marketing the school as in why they are unique.. etc etc...

however there wud be another round of telephonic intervw before they give out their final decision.. am waiting for that now

All the best hrishi for ur intervw !!

Re: Lancaster 2008; interviews & beyond - 09-02-2008, 03:22 AM

Thanks Hrishi..

I had my interview with MBA program director and he started our discussion with TATA nano car, it's importance and social cost...later on he asked me some generic questions like my work experience with diff clients, where all i hv worked and one challenging situation which i hv faced in my carrier...and finally questions from my side. It lasted around 25-30 mins.
Hope this helps..

Regards,
Vivek
