I recd. offer for 2007 - 08 batch, but got it deferred by an year after paying the acceptance amount. I am currently in a doubt about the suitability of this programme for someone with my kind of profile (work ex 15 yrs., engg. background). Would appreciate your opinion on this subject. How is this program rated when compared to the 1 yr. ones offered by some reputed Indian institutes?
I was unable to appear for the IIMA PGPX interview because of occupational reasons, did not apply to IIMC and had been rejected by ISB last year (after interview). I got the impression that the long work-ex went against my selection at ISB. I have recently discovered that XLRI also offers a 1 yr program that has been well accepted in the market.

Hi RajMal,
Congrats for the admit. I can't really comment on which would be a better program when compared with the other courses which you have mentioned. What I can do is give you info and highlights about the NUS MBA Program. You then need to take a call based on where you want to go post-MBA.
1. Since you already have 15 yrs of work-ex and hence feel that you do not really want to do an intership and instead want to complete the program as fast as possible, NUS gives the option of completing the program in a 12-month duration if you are willing to forego internships and student exchange program.
2. In the current batch, as much as 8% of the students have experience between 8 - 10 years and as much as 13% have experience above 10 years. So there certainly will be other students of your age and experience.
3. From industry and function wise distribution of Post-MBA roles for the last batch given at the link below, you can see that there certainly are many diverse areas which you can get into post-MBA.

4. At your experience, you certainly do not need to rely on campus placements. Infact, I think that not having a limited choice among the roles and companies that come on campus would give you more freedom to apply at multiple companies and then choose the one that seems the best among those.
5. NUS is a brand all over the world. It has been voted as the most preferred school in Asia by recruiters from all over the world.
6. From the discussions that I have been following on Pagalguy in the PGPX threads, it seems to me that these programs are mainly targetted at those who have been outside India and now want to make a transition into India. What I have observed is that majority of the applicants at these programs are international applicants. (Indians currently based outside India).
7. I would suggest that you call up NUS or try to attend one of their MBA Fairs. That would give you a better idea of what to expect at NUS. I will try to get you in touch with a current students at NUS with a similar profile as yours.
8. Ultimately I think it boils down to what a current student at ISB and an ISB passout said to me.
"If you want to make a career in India, no place like ISB. If you want to make a career outside India, NUS might be a better choice." The same could be applicable for the other courses mentioned by you.
Thanks,
Abhishek.
