I feel, it's better to discuss our issues rather than thru PM /messenger.
This way we'll have a large discussion group and also we'll be aware of each other issues.

But later on we can definitely contact each other, but at this stage I would say lets discuss on the form...

wat say guyz

Hi,

Count me in too!!!

I am a sotware engineer working with an Indian IT company for 2.5 yrs now. Have a previous experience of another 10 months in the same field. Planning for a 2009 admit. Hope to make get an admit in the top 50 Global B-Schools(US/UK).

Currently, looking to identify the target b-schools as I begin my prep. With no ideas, about how to research b-schools apart from visiting the b-schools websites, I would appreciate any help or pointers to help my search.

Regards,
Apoorva

Try getting "How to get into Top MBA Programs" by Richard Montauk.. (Not available in Indian market as of now; u may need to order thru Amazon) In the mean time, u can try searching esnips for "Your MBA Gameplan" That's also a decent book and one of the chapters covers about 30 B-schools briefly..

Further keep visiting the schools' websites and order hard-copies of brochures for all the schools that u r aiming at.. (U may be thinking Why hard copy, when u can get download the PDF right at this moment? But believe me: having a printed copy surely has its effect)

Also visit blogs of current students and applicants; that'll giv u a decent idea of what kind of janta goes where..

But first thing u need to do is to have some clarity abt ur goals and tastes;Even ur choice of schools will depend on it

Would u like to return to IT or would u prefer to delve into I-banking? Do u like a school with an urban life (Stern,Columbia, Haas etc) or would u prefer the rustic, but a closely-knit community (Ex: Tuck)
Are u comfortable where u r a part of 1000+ batch (Ex: Harvard) or would u prefer a batch-size which ensures everyone knows everyone else (Tepper,Yale)

I know this is easier said than done And that's one of the reasons that I've decided to wait for a year; I need some time to know my own tastes..

Gud luck with ur B-school hunting!!
