Advice needed::: Average Scores Where to apply -
20-09-2007, 08:28 PM
All my frens on the forum,have a question.Request all to kindly pour suggestions after going through my profile below as i am wondering whether i should
reschedule my GMAT Exam date ie 29-Sep-2007 to some other time:
My question & details are as follows:
************************************************** ****
After having prepared for two months,i couldnot improve much on score front for most of the mock tests(GMAC from mba.com & the paper based test from the same
source).I am scoring in the range of 620-660 and in one Kaplan test that i gave,i got 540 only.
Now to brief about my profile:-
Working since Jun-2003 till date in ORACLE applications (ERP) as techno functional consultant (starting with INFOSYS & currently with MERRILL LYNCH)
ELECTRONICS & TELECOM engineer
Acads :- B.E-->75%
12th --> 74%
10th--> 78%
Curriculars include dramatics,sports (participated & lead teams) ,activities like education camps etc.
*******************************
Assuming ,and more so being so near to exam date,if i get any such score in range of 640-68-,I am worried
that with such dismal score WOULD I BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A DECENT Bschool ,as initially schools like Kellogg, Emory, Babson, Cornell,INSEAD(Singapore)
ISB,which all i wanted to apply seemingly would be remotely receptive to my app.
In such a case what would be my chances to presenting a good app to schools like NUS,SPJCM(Dubai-Sinigapore),INSEAD(Singapore), and any other good Bschools
(which any of you is welcome to suggest me) .Would there be any chances to receive aids/grants at such a score.
Request all to kindly mail /pm/ post your advice as i am less informed about the choices of schools to be made in this score range .
Also keeping in view that i would be very well held up with my office work till 30thOctober(ie entire month of October),is it anyways advisable to reschedule
my exam date some time in november.Kindly advice .
I know i have put across a bit detailed presentation,but i deemed it neccessary in order to get really good insights from all PGmates in order to avoid any
mistake in the initial round itself
Thanks to all of you who have invested time in reading this & are helpin me in resolving this dilemma.

Dude, one question: why do u highlight Merrill Lynch in capitals??..u r nt a banker, or equity research guy with them...right!..so u work with their support division of IT.
Mate, there is a reason why i wrote this....don't go by brands if u r not a part of their core division...trust me, u will be at a loss.
As far as GMAT as concerned...yes, if u have a 560, u won't get through almost any school (u wont even get shortlised,being an Indian), unless u donate crores to the school / u have done something extra extra ordinary.
So work on ur Gmat..get a gud score (above 620 atleast), and then think of a good school.
PS: Here, "good school" signifies my definition of good school.
