2008-2009 batch students,

Firstly, thanks for your great effort in answering queries from
aspirants of IPMX and thereby helping us to know more into the
programme.

Below is my profile. What is my chance of getting an interview invite?
(I do consider the vital role my essays and recommendation will play)

GMAT - 710 (V=37,Q=50,AWA=4)

Academics
10th - 88.0%
12th - 93.8%
BE - 80.0%

Professional Experience
- Would be completing 6 years and 4 months by March 31, 2009 in a
leading IT servicing company
- 2 years of international exposure (US)
- Currently playing the role of a project lead

Extra Curricular
- Student secretary of a technical society during college
- Presented my works at national and international conferences
- Involved in social activities while in India and in US

There is little information (atleast the kind of information I'm
looking at) about IPMX available in www.iimlnc.ac.in. Could you help
me with good references/pointers/forums to the programme?

Also, could you please answer the following questions?

1. How is IPMX fairing when compared to the other one year executive
management programmes in Indian B-schools, considering the method of
teaching, activities beyond curriculum like guest lectures? How
frequent are the guest speakers?

2. Could you please throw somelight on the faculty profiles as well?

3. What are the different student body activities available in the
campus?

4. What special steps are taken to make IPMX most suited for aspirants
to go global?

5. Is there sufficient focus from the IIML management to make this
program a success?

Thanks

Hi Healthyattitude,

Appreciate the questions posted by you,i have been thinking on similar lines.Would Really be grateful to the seniors if they can enlighten us.

My take is that, It would take a couple of more years for this course to stabilise( as in infrastructure, more guest lectures, student body etc etc)

I Guess IIMLN campus just managed to build hostels for the Students.Another deterrant is-Non family acco etc, which are important parameters, when jusging a Good B-school.

take on your profile-I bet you would get an invite, Your strong Acads, matched by a 710 in Gmat would do the trick for you(compensating for lack of diversity)

All the Best

I feel you are in relatively safe zone...

Comparison with other b school...!?
Input is top notch ...
Guest lectures--we have a Corporate Interaction Comm -a student +faculty driven comm that brings guest lectures ..Noida gives the advantage of bringing speakers from NCR.It is a regular event here and speakers are more than eager to come .
2. Could you please throw somelight on the faculty profiles as well?
I suggest you visit the IIML website for faculty profiles. This term all were frm IIML campus.

3. What are the different student body activities available in the
campus?
We have various comm + clubs that covers the whole spectrum of activities. We are just 45 and there is room for everyone!

4. What special steps are taken to make IPMX most suited for aspirants
to go global?
Starting Sept 15th we have a full term at Mcguill Univ. Also institute have tied up with foreign univs and as part of that McDonough Georgetown MBA students had session with us..

5. Is there sufficient focus from the IIML management to make this
program a success?

Yes they are serious abt developing this centre. Also it is not totally cut off from IIML.The alumni and placement activities are being done in co-ordination.IIML has a strong brand equity among recruiters.

Thanks[/quote]

Re: 1 year PGDX program at IIML NC – IPMX - 01-09-2008, 09:17 PM

Thank you Sunil for all your answers.

I'm sorry for asking many questions but I'm just trying to know more about the programme.

1. Going by the list of courses listed in the brochure I could feel the strong inclination of IPMX towards global business management. But do the courses like International Business Communication, Legal Environment for International Business, International Trade & Policy, International Marketing and Global Supply Chain Management consider different economies (developed and emerging) and impart a real 'global outlook'?

2. Are the IPMX placement staff capable of attracting enough potential employers or does the students toil hard to get employers to campus?

3. If a candidate aspires to pursue a career in a XYZ company or a particular industry and if XYZ or any company from that industry have not recruited from IIMC yet then in what ways could IIMC help the candidate in achieving his aspirations (if at all it would)?

4. How will IPMX aid a candidate in shaping his venture ideas into a realistic business?

5. How is the prospects of campus recruitment for the IPMX? Does IPMX have a decent sucess rate in career switching, especially from IT to Business Consulting?

6. Do professors consult for firms and corporates (multi national companies or public sector companies)

Thanks

Also, whats the male/female ratio of the current batch.

Thanks..

Hi Bellthe Cat,

ISB is not strict abt exp..though IIML_noida is.

Anyways you can write to them and am sure if you make as a good candidate they should relax the milit-Case to Case Basis.

All the Best
