I don't think the competition would be any easier for IIML. Out of 350 or so called for interview only 80 are expected to sail thru. So IIML too is going to be a very tough battle.
One discouraging factor for people applying maybe the lack of Married accommodation...

Anyway's happy apping..

how did you get this figure of 350 and 80?

Is there any word limit for the questions in the recommendation letters?

Hi BR,

If the appliction has no restriction on the limit of words, then I suggest just keep it sensible. Maybe see some US Bschools and what limits they have in their essays.

cheers

Hi ,

Were you shortlisted by IIMA for interview ? IIML is totally unpredictable . ISB places a high importance on essays . I had communicated with their adm office and they confirmed this .
The 3rd application essay for ISB requires to write how my outgoing boss will describe me to my new boss . My question to everyone in this forum or not in this forum is - CAN WE WRITE THE ESSAY IN A DIALOGUE FORM ? WILL IT STILL BE AN ESSAY ?
Any reply is welcome !

Hi!

Selection criteria of IIML would be quite unpredictable. The form itself is very basic hence what IIML is looking for would be any body's guess.

I would guess IIML is going to place very high importance on the employability of the candidate after the course. Hence acads and potential of a candidate for mid and high management level may some of the factors for selection. The latter may be judged by SOP and two recommendation letters we have to provide.

GMAT too is going to play a imp role. This year IIMA cutoff reportedly has been 700 for male candidates.

ISB on the other hand is skewed more towards young candidates with work ex of 2-5 years (85%). However for the diversity factor they
take few candidates with more experience. So if you can convince them that you can contribute to class knowledge due to your experience you should not have any major challenges to face especially when there won't be many applicants in your age pool. However for placement, I discussed with a few Alumni (from Marine background) who were of the view that for for candidates with experience (more than 7-8 years) one has to rely more on his existing network.

BTW I too am from Lucknow and would be coming back on the 11th Oct for a month.

ATB.
