HI Pguys,
This is for all those who are still seeking information on how the selection procedure goes about:
Aptitude Test
SPJAT:
If you have known the CAT format it will be easy.
I do not know the breakup in terms of quantity of the questions but the test will comprise of
Mathematics - Quantitative questions
English - Verbal Analysis and reading comprehension
Data Interpretation/ Reasoning.
General Knowledge.
This test is short( I think it is for an hour or so) unlike the CAT.
Remember one thing --- Make sure you have 75%ile to clear the cut off and atleast a 80%ile - 85%ile to be competitive. As your score is considered as part of the evaluation on cumulative grounds.
About Evaluation rounds:
1) Your score itself - it will be considered as part of the evaluation but no one will mention it exclusively. This throws light on your aptitude skill levels.
2) Essay writing - 3 essays. Two of them were 10 mins each and the third one is business case for 20 mins.
10 mins. ones are usually personality based.
for e.g.
-->Give us an important situation where your team building skills were exhibited.
-->or your leadership skills.
-->or something you came to know about yourself while handling a particular situation and how did it help the situation.
-->or something you did which didn't meet your personal motives and how did it affect the situation at hand.
20 mins.
For e.g
As a business head what 3 or more strategies will you adopt to launch a well established Indian brand globally.
How will you help in preventing a family business from breaking apart?
This 20 mins one - a few people got a Case Study, where you make sure you follow a format for a Case Study.
Para 1 Introduction about the case study -- Problem Statement.
Para 2 Alternatives(solutions) you suggest
Para 3 PROS and CONS of Alternative 1
Para 4 PROS and CONS of Alternative 2
.
.
.
.
.Last para - which of the alternatives you choose and why...
3) Group Discussion
Here you need to score a lot of POINTS. no matter what the topic. The scoring by the facilitators is done on various aspects like - a) Listening, b) Inclusiveness where you generate participation c) Communication Skills d) Patience e) Not to oppress anyone before the statement is completed.
when the group is formed make sure that you build up a setting amongst all that no matter what it is not a fish market. it was a fish market where the discussion went haywire in my case.
This would give the entire group a negative in listening skills.
You need to make the others participate - you will find some bakra for sure who will not speak much.
Then you will find people trying to suppress other's point - not letting them speak in whole. Make sure you let the person finish. Take the lead in pointing it out.
If you want to refuse a point made by someone - do it politely by using - Sir, if I may beg to differ or Sorry, I would like to differ with this point etc.
4) Panel Interview - Stress Interview - 10/15 mins. Mind it - even if you are a 95 % ile scorer you can get eliminated here. they will check your confidence here. don't lose patience.
There is one guy who will ask questions and the other will note reactions.
BE CONFIDENT -- the key. you will be tired till the time you get to face this round. It is very humid in Mumbai and they don't have great arrangements out there.
You can answer most of the questions in this round. However, if you aren't able to then don't panic and be honest about it or give them a fair answer by letting them know that you are not sure about it.
it happened with me - I didn't know an answer and they tried to lure me into an answer of their own. I firmly put it across that I will not commit since I am not sure about it.
The questions can be anything - about school - principal, workplace , technical, business - about client, your extra curricular, your interests etc.
Know your application well.
5) President's interview--
If you are through to this round that means you have done well in your previous rounds.
He will not ask much, it will mainly be what you were asked in your panel interview. he willl listen to you very patiently.
Like what do you do at your workplace. Why have you opted for this specialization? In some cases if he doesn't want to offer you a seat in the opted specialization he will ask you for another specialization -- it is not a trap. So, make sure you have evaluated all the alternatives.
while you are answering this he will be noting down the scores of - ESSAY , GD, Panel Interview, Aptitude Tests ; all for further cumulative assessment before the results are out.
Hope this helps you all.
All the very best.
Thanks,

Hello friends,
While going through the formalities for loan, it is mentioned that life insurance policy of eqivilant amount of loan is reqiured. It means we have take the insurance policy of this huge amount and have to pay first premium right now. This is also an additional exps.
Will the institute help us, in getting the insurance or we have to take it at our end?
Please throw some light on this aspect.
Thanks

Dhir
I don't have the link, but the recog you are talking about is accredation from MOE Sg. Both the campuses have not awarded degree till last batch
here is quote forom wiki
SPJCM is one of four foreign institutions designated "Institution of Higher Learning" by the Singapore Ministry of Education, enabling it to grant a MBA degree from the Singapore campus. It is also accredited by the Dubai International Financial Centre [3].
SP Jain has been consistently ranked among the top 10 B-schools in South Asia by AsiaInc magazine. In 2006, it was ranked 3rd among private Indian B-schools by Outlook, and among the top 10 in terms of global linkage, industry interface and placement performance [4]. Quote:

I have a few questions to the Pguys out here on this thread who already have an admit.
1)what are you guys planning for resignation? when do you think should we do it? I have a good notice period of atleast 2 months. Until the payment is done , I don't plan to resign. what do you say about it?
2) What does the welcome kit say about the visa as I haven't received it yet? They told me that the stamping will be done on arrival and they wouldn't need our original passports for the same as of now. So, when is the final checkpoint about the confirmation that we are WELCOME? So we can resign.
Veterans - Mitul, Thirstyearth, Blackblade --- your opinions and suggestions please...
Thanks,

Hey anupam,
1) Regarding resignation, if u are confirmed of taking an admission and having got an admit now in ur hand, why delay in resignation....? If u delay then it might possible that u have to rush in the last minute preparations....as november is all set to begin within 2 days and then only 2 months remain... I believe u shd put in ur papers..
2) Regarding the visa, u are right that the stamping will be done on arrival and u require to give only the certified true copies of passport. Once u have paid the 2500 USD, its official that ur seat is booked....SO u can go ahead with your resignation process..
mitul If You WIN, U not need to EXPLAIN........... BUT, If You LOOSE, U should NOT be there to EXPLAIN...! | | | | | | | |
