Hi,

That is a lot of queries ... Will try my best to answer them as comprehensively as possible ... Find answers inline ...

Hi seniors n alumnii,
I'm posting on behalf of my friend who is not able to access PG from office..so please answer her query which are as follows :

I am a B.E in IT and am currently working for TCS for the last 1 yr.I hv applied for SPJCM 1 yr GMBA programme(Jan intake) for product marketing....

I hv few confusions here.............

1 . Some ppl say tht product marketing z very hectic & not good for girls ................bt I hv my interest in product marketing and hence I m a bit concerned.........

--> All courses are hectic ... There are gals in PMM as well. I think this reasoning is purely fallacious. The 1st 6 months are common to all. Hypothetically, lets assume the course is as tough as ure sources say, but if ure interest is in the same, then I think u shud go thru it ...

2. Some ppl say tht it z a very expensive course and does not worth to its cost.

--> Cost is high ... I personally feel its worth it ... the faculty r good ... u get a global exposure ... the placements r good and its a one yr fast track program ...

3.Some ppl say that marketing especially product marketing ppl generally get their job offers from Indian companies ..They dont get good offers from foreign companies. If it z not true thn tell me that companies generally from which countries come from the recruitment of students from product marketing. Please do give the names of some of these companies.

--> U can check the info from the SPJCM site ... all the details are mentioned there ... specific to PMM as well ...

4.Some ppl say tht for better placement offers I shld hv more work experience while I' l b having only 15-16 months of it before joining dis programme .But then I m very keen to do MBA now.

--> Its not a qn of how many months of work ex u have ... it depends on when u want to do an MBA ... If u feel u r in the right frame of mind now to do an MBA ...then by all means go ahead ... Having said that ... the avg work ex in my batch is 3-4 yrs ... but there r ppl with <2 yrs work ex as well (I have 2) ... so it really doesnt matter so much ... EOD ... u have to sell ure self ...

5.According to some ppl Companies generally dont come for recruitment in the month of January (They come for mainly July intake batch)and hence Jan intake batch will face this huge disadvantage.

--> Noone, including me know this for sure ... I think its pointless to speculate on this now ... What I would advice u to do is ... wait for a month or so ... by then the placements of the prev dec/jan batch wud have commenced and u wud the true picture ...

6.I want to know about product marketing.........How good it is ??????........what r d future prospects for this field???????????....... Why is this newly introduced...????..................Can a product manager work as a service marketing manager or a retail marketing manager.......????????

--> Being in IT, I havent really explored this option ... I can get back to u on this after talking to some of my frenz in PMM ...

7. what is the average and highest salarary that I could expect in case of my foreign placement through product marketing management

--> --> U can check the info from the SPJCM site ... all the details are mentioned there ... specific to PMM as well ...

8. what is tje average and highest salarary that I could expect in case of my Indian placement through product marketing management

--> U can check the info from the SPJCM site ... all the details are mentioned there ... specific to PMM as well ...

9.Does in SPJCM we have the opportunities of multiple job offers.

--> For now NO ... maybe by the time u join or by the time my placements happen ...

10.Why is that most of the students of SPJCM prefer Indian placement offers over foreign placements offers.

--> who said so? Ther r ppl who like to settle in India for obvi reasons - the INDIAN MARKET and the SCENARIO there ... that has nothing to do with SPJCM ... or PMM or IT ...

11.Is this a very hectic and rigorous course wid students having absolutely no time to relax or for any sort of entertainment.

--> It is hectic ... but I can assure u that ... u can have fun and can relax and will surely enjoy the ocurse ...

Hope ure queries have been answered ...

Rgds,
MJ

Hi,

The fees structure given in the website wud be in dollars ... so depends on the conversion rate on the day u pay ... This does not include ...food expenses ... travel ... laptop

the total cost depends on ure spending pattern ... u can restrict the total cost to within 12-13 lakhs easily ... and not by starving ...

MJ

I could get in touch with some one and let u kno reg the same ... With respect to wanting to go back, there are people who want to go to India due to the growing economy and the opportunities there ... at the same time, there are ppl who wish to get placed in spore ... I was telling u wrt my batch ... Will confirm with the dec batch and let u kno their choice ...

Bottomline: u have a mix of ppl and also opportunities for either of the two ...

Hope this helps ...

Eval process insight - 05-09-2007, 06:43 PM

Insight of evaluation process
Hi GuyS,
i attended the eval process on Sept 1st and tht would share my experience which might help the next batches....All the best!!!!
The interview process has 4 stages
First they would give u 20 mins for 2 essays. The subject might be anything under the sun. But mostly would be something which would help them judge your commitment, innovation etc at your work. So prepare for essays where you can write something good about your work.
We were asked to write essays on
1)Describe an experience where you projected your leadership skills in your work?
2)Describe an experience where you used your innovative thinking at your work?
And after this there would be a case study which would be again for 20 mins.
This is in general for all the streams. Topic can be anything.
After this we had a personal interview with two of the senior professors where the most of the questions were work related and about your choices. like Why MBA?Why in particular stream? your career goals?etc.
The final round is with Mr.Nitesh Jain who is the director of S.P.JAIN and even this is mainly based on the things you have mentioned in your application form. More grilling on your job profile work experience and about the company and domains etc……
In between there will be validation of certificates so u need to carry 2 Xerox copies of all the certificates ATTESTED.
Then 3 passport size photos.
Be yourself and I'm sure you will sail thru as I feel this is "not an impossible" types of interviews.

Hi Rutty,

I am a bit confused about the application online.
1) I have two postgraduate diplomas, but the form provides space for one only. Where do I inform about the other diploma?

2)I do not have my 1st and 2nd year graduate level marklists. The % for graduate was given on the basis of the final year of passing (third year B.sc). Will that be sufficient here?

3)I could not find the date of aptitude test on website. When will that be put there so that I can register myself?

4) If I opt for GMAT and submit my score by November 15th , isn't that reduces my chances of selection. As already some rounds will be over by that time.

Thanks.

Cheers to all!!
