sometimes it may so happen that u have opted for some specific branch of ur choice.......but after ur evaluation spjain people may feel that u are better for some other branch which is more relevant to ur work ex and ur profile.....
It has happened in past also....
So now, its upon u to decide how u should go ahead.........

They have asked for my response so that they can send the offer letter... should i talk to them? i need something in finance...IB/BM... any suggestions???

definately u should call them and listen to their opinion what they are sayin and why they offered u SMM instead of IB...
talk to them, but still if they insist that SMM is the only thing they can offer u, then u decide withing urself that whether this is the field which would help u to go ahead and give a good profile booster....
But first, u talk with them...
