Hi Avishek
Supply Chain Management and Logistics are very much in demand currently especially due to the economic crisis. While Logistics costs as a percentage of Revenue is less than 10% globally, efficient supply chain designs help companies save significant costs in terms of inventory holding costs and these savings go straight into the bottom line of the balance sheet.

However, be very realistic about the job prospects and remuneration post SP Jain GMBA. The salaries they have mentioned are all in INR for placements across Gulf, India and South East Asia. Very few companies have offered housing as an additional component of the CTC in Gulf. So if somebody says that I got a job paying 25 Lakhs per annum, he has basically got a job paying about AED 250,000 per annum of which AED 100,000 has to be kept aside for housing alone.

The only add-on you get is a car which is not a big deal in UAE. For those who got placements in Singapore have not really got fantastic jobs. Many people ended up being team leaders in big logistics companies and Singapore has an extremely high cost of living. A vast majority of people from SP Jain have actually got placements in Shipping and Logistics companies in India with an average salary of 8 Lakhs per annum.

Be very very careful about the risk apetite before signing on the dotted line with programs like SP Jain GMBA. Your long term career and financial prospects are extremely critical and its in your best interest to check out other options before making the final decision.

(Please feel free to PM me to evaluate your university/career options with an MBA)
Cheers

Hey guys. Am new to PG so please forgive my ignorance. Just got an offer on the sp jain gmba in retail management. Since I applied in a hurry I really didn't get time to think it over. I was hoping to ask someone on this particular course or if not any one on an gmba a couple of things
1.As I understand the gmba degree is not accredited by any govt body. But do companies in india and abroad recognize it?
2.How is the course content?
3.Do u think that the quick pace and tight schedule allows you to get exposure of a new country. Coz after all no point going so far and not being able to explore, experiment and form a network
It might sound wierd but is it worth doing the course? Taking my case, I am working with my family. U plan to prob work for a year or two after the mba befor getting back to the business or mayb go out on my own. Currently I have chosen the family business route so won't be eligible for the placements. Would really appreciate u guys replying coz I need to accept ot reject the offer soon

Hi saurabhgoel86,

Congrats for the admit..I'll answer your questions in points..

1. True..SPJ is not accredited..though its recognised by the local ministries there..the point to note is that its a brand at both locales..industry credits it..

2. Course content is very industry specific..Sicne its mainly meant for experienced prof..they kinda fine tune on specialist needs before handing you onto the industry.

3. Well..you do find your time amidst the hectic schedule..Some seniors will testify to that I suppose..

Well cant really comment on the worth of the program..Retail management is picking up at spj..infact at recent placements..its got a 100% as per the site and the info by seniors..Since you're keen on pursunig a job for sometime returnign to business..shouldnt you have chose the placement category..Anways, even now you can always opt for off-campus placements.

Hope this helped!!

ATB

Hi All,

I am a software engineer with 2 years of experience and would be applying for the GMBA 2009 odd semester batch for Global Logistics & supply Chain Management with SP Jain Singapore Dubai. Please do let me know on what are the possibilities of me getting a decent placement as I would have to pay back the loan that I would have to take for the same.

I have heard from friends the the placements for the last batch didn't go as well. Please do help me out with this information.

Sachin
