Laptop query - 15-12-2007, 10:55 AM

Hi friends,
Do we really require Core 2 Duo processor in our laptop? Its new generation, dissipates less heat and adds an extra hour to battery backup in long run. BUT kinda shifts 10+K off my budget, especially when we may not actually require to run simulators or synthesizers during our studies.
Have only one more day to finalize our call on this!
Thanks in adv,
-Anoop

Re: SP Jain (Singapore/Dubai) GMBA - Jan 2008 Intake - 17-12-2007, 05:20 AM

Hi All,

I am surprised to see the debate still boiling over the placements and the figures quoted by some of the top Bschools and by SPJCM.

Well to put things into perspective (yet again) i would give you a clear overall (and not just placements) snapshot of the current SPJCM status:

What to expect::

> For people looking forward to learning: You will not be disheartened. SPJCM faculty hails from some of the best bschools in the world including likes of Harvard Business School, London Business School, National Univ of Singapore , Nanyang Tech Singapore , ISB Hydrabad, IIM- A/B/C , SP Jain Mumbai , XIM Bhubneshwar and most from the industry. These profs do not come easy and this kind of mix is rear in any Bschool in the world. These Profs will ignite your thinking process if you want them to.

>For people looking for Experience : The experience can come from the following areas (by no means is this list an exhaustive one)...

----->Peers : SP Jain makes sure that it picks the best minds from amongst the applicants and also takes care of having the right demographical and cultural mix. The average batch work ex for my batch currently stands at about 3.5 Years with 2 freshers in a batch of 147 students. There are a few students who have close to 8 years of work ex and that just goes to show the diversity of the batch.

----->Classroom: Needless to say the "Great Indian Pathshala style learning" works well till date , expect ruthless class hours and even more unforgiving assignments and quizes (i have not slept for more than 4 Hrs a day in the last 2 weeks).

----->Teachers / Guest Lecturers: Wont reiterate the "Guru Gaan", but would definitely say expect the best and you will still be surprised by what SPJ is offering in terms of faculty.

----->Singapore/ Dubai: Lets call it "Tacit Knowledge" ! You will gain invaluable experience while you interact with some of the industry experts [during your Internship (SGP)] in these to cities.

-----> Exposure: This is not exacty a source but never the less , the exposure to Group dynamics and public speaking , research and anaylsis may drive you off the edge. You will be exposed in the true sense (thanks to the ruthless acad co-ordiators).

>Expect Geat Infrastructure : Dubai and Singapore college campus and Hostel have great infrastucture (at least surpassed my expectations). Even after working in Infosys Bangalore campus for over a year i still found the Singapore campus stunning. Classes are recorded and the 24 Hr wifi campus lets you stay connected to the world 24/7.

>Sleepless Nights , Sleepless Nights and more Sleepless Nights: Lets just put it this way "You will be busy!"

There is More.....

Well for now the list needs to end here as we have a quiz in another 20 mins and i need to rush to the wash room but watch out for the complete list of "What to Expect" and "What NOT to expect".

Regards,

SPJmite

Well, I was planning to join this college .....but came to know that frm SP Dubai students themselves that this year it was not a gud scenario in IT....and it took more than a week....for placing thm all....

U say For 2 yr --expect 9-11 lac......but i know a person with nearly 5 yrs wrkex in IT MNC getting 8lpa package....also it was not option/profile etc but plain majboori...

I don't want to argue on all of this further with current students...But just wanted to tell junta tht get info from their possible authentic sources before making ne decision...

Best of luck to all....
