2. As for an academic recommendation, I cannot answer that directly. For one, an academic recommendation is a explicitly stated requirement. So if I'm going to be procedural about it, I would advise you to ask your relatives in India to ask your former professors or deans. Second, you can directly contact or email the AIM admissions office for this matter. You may want to contact Ms. Twiggy Reyes of the admissions office (preyes (at) aim.edu) for a clarification on this matter.

Good luck!
Hi... just an FYI to folks applying to AIM 2008 i checked up with Adcom rep and they mentioned that if the applicant is not able to provide academic recos it can be substituted by a professional recos so in all two professional recos can be submitted.

Hello

I am kind of confused about the whole application process for AIM. When I sent an email to the Indian Adcom they mentioned that the online application has not started but there is an Application Kit which needs to be filled by the 15th November I guess. My question since I got a GMAT score do I need to follow the Application Kit route or I can go ahead with the online application whenver it comes up and make the payment online ...

Guys any clue when will be the online application commence bcos till even today I am seeing 14 essays reflected on the website??

Can anybody on this forum share the 4 essays topic and perhaps even the word limit?

Thanks in advance

Hi folks,

I am planning to apply for the MM program of 2008. The India office in Mumbai advised that all shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and GD. But I thought the AIM website did not mention GD. Can you folks throw some light?

Also, just wanted to know stats from 2007 MM intakes. What were the GMAT scores of people who made it to MM? What was the selectivity?

Any MMers who can share their experiences pre and during the class of 2007?

Thanks a lot!

Re: Asian Institute of Management (AIM) 2008 discussions - 21-10-2007, 02:00 PM

Hi,

Can any current student from AIM please clear the air for me. I recently went to a counseller looking for mock interview sessions. According to him I should not consider AIM at all. He said that it had a good reputation in the mid 90s but since then its standard has gone down. He went so far as to say that I shouldn't attend the GD-PI even if I do get a call.

I did not go for counselling to him. Only for mock interview sessions. He has nothing to gain from saying all this. Can anyone please let me know what is AIM's current ranking among the b-schools in Asia and the world.

Thanks.

I am surprised to read whatever the person has written in the above message. and I guess this is for the first time I am getting to hear such things about AIM. Sometime back I got to hear even this - AIM is a better institute than ISB and AIM should always appear higher in the priority list.

anyway, I am baffled to hear such a thing (and many of you would have reacted in a similar manner, I am sure), but then someone must clear the confusion, or else there will be a slump in the enthu. I am personally very hopeful of an AIM admission this year, and after hearing this I think I need to do a bit more research.

If any of the current students of AIM is reading this message, then please do give a convincing reply.

Thanks & Regards

Hi guys!

I'm back! It's been a busy few weeks but hopefully I can answer some stuff again on your AIM inquiries.

I haven't seen the essays myself but I heard there are questions re: the master's thesis. It would be a bit unrealistic to think that whatever you put there will be you final project, considering a lot of consultations and advising involved, so it would be wise to put something you are interested in and you think will be a good addition to the body of knowledge in the world of business.

The word is that AIM is really in a state of upgrading everything about the admission process so I think it would be prudent to clarify things with them personally. I myself am unaware of all the new improvements in the process. :P

Please do email the admissions office, they're a nice bunch.

Hi!

GD is just a group dynamics exercise to evaluate how you relate in a group-- arguing, discussing, teamwork, etc. If you have good communication and personal skills, no need to worry.

I don't have data on the intakes last year, but I heard it's a very experienced and impressive bunch. You can ask the admissions office for more info on this.
