Great. Let me know how it goes. Couple of my friends have done their MBA from AIM so in case you plan to join the school, let me know.
Good luck once again.
Best,

(In case you have scored around 600 in GMAT then you can apply through your GMAT scores, I guess now they have started accepting scores > 550, but I am yet to find anyone selected in AIM who has scored less than 600). For admission in 2008.......I guess you have missed the bus. And all you can do is to wait for the Sept/Oct when the application process will start again (for 2009), and then apply through whatever channel you wish (GMAT/AIMAT/XAT). Hope this is useful to you. Thanks & Regards Sarsij Nayanam | I have yet not met anyone who is accepted with a score lower than 640..
AIMAT is an easy channel but as far as i know its on the GMAT pattern only..
here at AIM lot of focus is given to the profile and the interview..
In my batch of around 25 people finally selected for the GD/PI .. i guess 2 of us made it.
so dont be complacent... u never know... give ur best shot if it is to be...it is up to me!!

Does any one have an idea about what XAT score should be enough? and whether overall percentile is all that matters?
and will this year's XAT score be valid for applying for may 2009 batch?
Thanks for the help! | | | | | | | |

Archit | HI,
AIM does have a very hectic placement schedule, but like any international bschool, best jobs go to people who know where they want to go and who work on it and build their networks. Many indians persue an MBA to get a better job. AIM takes special care that these people get weeded out till the placement season
At AIM a scholarship holder can lose his schol and it may go to a better performing student, so complacent people watch out!!
Good placements do happen at AIM as I know many students who changed their career track totally ex from IT services(coder) to handling M&A in a top notch Japanese bank. You have to come to AIm with an open mind and there is special support for entrepreneurs and businessmen who want to open-up or expand their businesses, for which there is a separate wing that caters to this segment of people.
If you have it in you, placements won't be a problem if it is to be...it is up to me!!

I guess for XAT applicants, a hopeful score would be 97% up in XAT if it is to be...it is up to me!!

1. Is there any real advantage between the May intake and the one in Sep?
2. What is the batch intake and what is the percentage of Indian students in a batch. Is it a virtual coup by us or have they capped the Indian applicants just like NUS and NTU have
Cheers,
Jose. | ans to Q1:
There is no such advantage as such, but in May batch you have only one intern compared to 2 in sep batch, but on the other hand May people get more time to plan their placements.
2: NUS and NTU say that they have capped, but the real story is different. According to my personal exp NUS believes in early applications, even people with 630 GMAT scores and 2 yrs work ex have got selected as they applied early but late applications with 700 and 3+ yrs have been waitlisted and rejected, cannnot comment on the logic behind this.
NTU is good for its undergrad courses not so much its MBA , many people have ditched NTU and joined AIM or NUS. Though NTU has bought is rank in many surveys, but if you have good analytical skills you can see the value beneath.... so make your choice carefully.
If you wanna have a sneak peak into the life at AIM from a McGill MBA exchange student, here it is http://www.mcgill.ca/files/mba/aimfall2002bedford.pdf if it is to be...it is up to me!!

Appreciate if someone can reply, as I am quite confused which to choose. Noticed however on Pagalguy that quite a few ppl who have common admits frm both Great Lakes & AIM, have finally gone in for Great Lakes. Does my interpretation seem fair or reasonable???
Thanks in advance.
Cheers! | Well,
I am happy that you showed some cognisance in ignoring SPJCM, good decision as many people have been offered admission even after flunking their written tests... u can imagine the quality of your peers.
between GL and AIM..
many indians bet on GL as it has got ISBs director... thtz it,... I cannot think of any other credibility that can be associated with the school.
comparing any inidan bschool to AIM except IIMABC is not justified if you compare the course structure, exposure, rigor, profiles offered etc..
well u can compare AIM, NUS , HKUST ISB...
we can have a discussion now..and FYI 2 students have ditched ISB calls with 740+ scores and joined AIM and NUS.. draw ur own conclusions.. i am an AIM aspirant.. well the grill for bschool search is on

I am quite surprised to hear that there are ppl ditching ISB for AIM!
@buyaka, when is AIM application opening? Can you direct me to some site which gives me info regarding the average GMAT Score, Work Ex and Salary of AIM?
Thanks

NoeL | Yes, people do ditch ISB for AIM or some other asian school. There are students I know who have ditched HKUST for AIM too. The name of ISB came up quick becos their alumni are 98% indians who pik their juniors from ISB. If you look at the learning(very few people look for skills and not "JOBS") AIM is far superior and industry people give AIM grads a premium over IIMABCs of the world to put in indian terms
AIM has case based practitioner approach and here students go through 1200 live cases from around the world and only the ones who have seen the concepts work in real life survive... and yes there have been some dropouts every year
I will return soon to guide u through the application. if it is to be...it is up to me!! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to buyaka For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
