Would you be able to throw some light on the MM course, specifically on

1. Placements

3. Course Curriculum &
4. Perceived value of the course in the job mart

Hi garrylink!

I'm not 100% sure of the answers but I have some info:

1. Placement - as for the placement rates, I have no idea right now but the career management service (CMS) is common to the student body. I'm sure the MM rates are a whole lot better compared to previous years.

2. Batch profile - Again, I don't have the numbers, but basing on the people I'm seeing, there's a good number of Indians and Filipinos comprising the majority.

3. Course - The MM program is focused on leadership. When I was interviewed for the MBA program, my interviewer told me that the MM is for people who are well grounded on the business context, that's why there are some experienced engineers/techies being advised to go for the MBA. You can visit the AIM site for details on the curriculum.

4. Perceived value - I don't think I'm in the best position to assess this as of the moment. I probably need more info/feedback from people.

In any case, I'll probably make a blog post about this in the future. Hope this helps!

Hi sasi_nit!

I just started with the MBA program last August and we had 14 questions for the essay. If you download the form available on the AIM website, it still has 14 questions.

I'll check with admissions if they changed the application form for the next batch. I'll let you know as soon as I get the info.

Hi sasi_nit!

Could you post those four topics, if possible.
Let me call the Mumbai office tomorrow and validate it.

I believe it does make sense 'coz there is a lot overlap in those 14 essays, and if 4 essays are well-thought and wise, they should be enough to evaluate the candidature!

Take care

Hello everyone!

I have asked and verified with Admissions and they have confirmed that the new application form only has 4 questions. Hope that clears it up!

Re: Asian Institute of Management (AIM) 2008 discussions - 20-09-2007, 03:01 PM

Oh......thats a big disadvantage of starting things early........I got the AIM form some time back I was preparing those 14 essays. Now I think I will have to ask for a new form.......

but the good part is that now I will not have to work on those 14 essays........blessing in disguise........

anyway, this was a very very useful information and a very time-and-effort saving too....

in the mean time, if Ravi Shekhar is reading this post then I would request you to start contibuting to this thread.

Puys, Ravi Shekhar is a student at AIM, and has a lot of information to share with us on this thread.

Thanks & Regards

Yes, Ravi and I are classmates and he makes good points in class.

Although I do have info to share myself, Ravi is a good person to ask in terms of experiences of foreigners in AIM.

One more thing Puys, if you visit the Blog : The AIM Blogger which is being written by rkraqedan (see his signature), than I am sure that you will start recognizing people by faces by the time you are there.
Too good blog, I just enjoy reading it, it almost takes me to AIM much earlier than I am supposed to be.
Keep the great work going!

Re: Asian Institute of Management (AIM) 2008 discussions - 21-09-2007, 09:04 AM

Hi Rkraqedan,

The fourth essay this year is as follows:

4. Describe two business problems or opportunities you wish to investigate for your thesis. How would your investigations contribute to your community, business organization, or the national economy?

I checked out the curriculum but did not find anywhere written that we are required to write a thesis. Is this just an essay question and is not related to the curriculum?

Thanks.

Hello mealiennothuman!

The MBA thesis in AIM is called the Management Research Report or MRR.

Hope this helps!
