Specifically in this thread, what is hoped for is that this really becomes resource for comparative analysis of MBA support/consultation/service providers, so that applicants can make a better choice. Almost everyday I talk to applicants who are anxious, tired, angry, flummoxed or clueless about what and who to choose as a partner in chasing their dreams. The idea here is to make a small yet positive difference to that situation. This necessitates that applicants be able to talk of the good, bad and the ugly face of their experiences. In fact I am certain that applicants are looking for detailed and specific posts about what exactly was liked and disliked by them at a particular service provider. In fact specific posts like those from ishkaur, Sana4MBA and just4anshul are just what we require; and we should do our best to encourage them. Some posts would be genuinely laudatory and some might be dismissive and some others critical - and that is exactly as it should be. That a critical post is acceptable and a laudatory (assuming both are genuine) one unacceptable seems to me to lack logic. In fact what I was hoping for is a total of around 60-100 evaluative posts of all kinds to make compendium of actual applicant experiences. rpradeephere, I see that you have been a PG for more than 2 years - your own experiences and those of the large number of PG contacts you must certainly have would be extremely valuable.
My post was under the assumption that it was not genuine. Obviously PG is fully open for genuine discussions and arguments. We can dig out thousands of posts where we have praised a lot of services offered and bashed a equally good number. However lets not discuss on petty issues like this. That post of mine was just to clarify that PG does not permit advertisements (anshul's post seemed like one for me) in their threads.

I have not worked with essay consultants, though I can give inputs on 'my' expectations and we can have healthy discussions in this thread.

Dear friends,
I enrolled at ******** for GMAT Prep. Its horrible. They are just making fool of people. They are just after your money. Totally unconcerned about the results. It was a waste of money and time for me.

For admission consultancy I think one will be better of hiring international consultants. They can be found on Business Week forums.

The question of using any consulting services or not , has only one answer that the decision is completely individual specific.

All the students applying to B schools take views from atleast 2-3 friends / colleagues to strengthen their essays/reco etc. ...then is the question at place is : Why we are paying for views?..

The sole purpose of getting such services should be :

1. Stream lining your line of presentation.i.e to build a coherence in the array of thoughts that you want to reflect.
2. Refinement of language. You expect your friends as well to suggest words & sentences that are better than what you have used ...don u?
3. To get third party perspective to your candidature: While evaluating your self you may miss something very obvious about yourself...so if you think you need some help...go for it ..don waste time

No more gyan ....just do what u want...cos its u who would get the mba degree & its perk & no body else....so bang your own head..but do remember to look for the above in your essays

I have taken ********** services and believe me, my ordinary profile looks excellent and got calls from top B-schools. Initially, i too tought that the charges are high but looking at the quality of work, i am more than 100% convinced with my own decision of choosing him for essay editing.

Best Regards,
Manish

Re: Good B schools counselling centres in Delhi - 07-09-2007, 11:23 PM

Guys don't go to GENESIS Malviya Nagar (Dr Arun Kumar).....my friend went to genesis for counselling.....he was offered three packages by Dr Arun Kumar (Counselor)

Rs 50000 - No scholarship, all essays, interview preparation n all application work
Rs 100000 - 20 to 30 percent scholarship, all essays, interview n additional application work
Rs 200000 - 50 to 100 percent scholarship, all essays, interview preparation n all other application work

My friend actually took a package of Rs 2 lakh....he din't get ne scholarship at all..moreover that counselor told him to apply to universities way below his score.

My friend told me that Dr Arun Kumar uses lot of tactics to make students fool like:

1. He is there in office from 7am to 12pm so ppl visit him during that time, so incase you go for first time you are impressed to see few ppl there n tend to become fool

2. Arun kumar has got few ppl who are workin in ******** new friends colony...arun kumar pays them so that they send students to him......dis is simple marketing strategy

3. Arun Kumar (Genesis) won't give you fee receipt....so later u won't have ne proof to take him to court

4. there is one coaching institute in noida as well...they also fool ppl n send students to arun kumar

5. Arun kumar tells you that he knows lot of ppl in usa and he will get you scholarship no matter wat....but that is not true bcoz he knows no one in usa, it is your score which will get you scholarship.....ppl easily get scholarship if they have good score
