Issues for Family Business/Entrepreneur in India - 24-07-2007, 07:02 AM

I have tried to look for threads addressing these issues but could not find answers to many questions.

This thread is open to everyone but I would request to limit the topic to finding business schools that are good for people intending to launch a start up or go back to family business, in some short term (< 5 years after MBA) IN INDIA.

My introduction:
----------------
I have two years full-time software development work experience at a Fortune Top 50 company in the US. My job involved interacting with different teams including teams in China and India but aside from that there was little client interaction and I did not feel I developed sufficient people skills. I would have to work for at least 3 more years before being a manager here.

I scored 750 on GMAT (V41/Q50). Academics have always been very good to excellent. Undergrad CS and CE from a top 10 university in the US.

I plan on returning and settling in India in < 4 years. I don't know if I will return to the family business. I have a few ideas but I've no clue how to execute them and have no experience either.

I am not looking for the school which has the highest average post-MBA salary (though I want a good educational job after the MBA).

-------------------------------------------------------------

Till now, I have applied only to INSEAD Jan 08 R2 and have been rejected before the interview.

I want to know the experiences and opinions of other people who have entrepreneurial plans or are returning to their family business.

Which business schools are good for people with such plans?

- My current list only has ISB & Oxford. I am trying to figure out if I should apply elsewhere.

What are the advantages of going to a school in the USA or Europe over some place like ISB?

What kind of post or pre MBA work experience is most useful?
