I dont have that idea, but, its quite obvious that when u are studying in Aus, that you will work there. And that too, atleast 2-3 years. After 2-3 years, its your experiance that will matter at managerial level.

dont do ur MBA in Australia

1) they dont easily give u work permit, so once ur MBA is done even if u get placed in a good firm, lack of work permit means u have to return to India. repaying ur loans is very difficult

2) no value for Australian MBA in India

And in Aus they have a point system... which consultant will show u very easy to gain.. but do focus on 2 major criteria's...

1) Aus point system can change any point of time which can create a prob in gaining a PR.

2) Your work exp/Studies in Aus gains u point only when u are working in skilled job which are IT, A/C and which are in demand.

What about the PR options?
Can you apply for a PR immediately after reaching Australia? (You can do this for canada and some one told me you can do this for australia too, is that true?)
How long does it take to get a PR?
What are the chances of PR rejection if u r doing MBA from MBS or AGSM?

PR needs 125 points. If u have those than even u can apply from India. To get points you need to persue course, u need to stay in Aus for more than 20 months, etc.

If carpenters/chefs/hair dressers can get a PR, so can you.. provided you have relevant experience in the jobs that are on the demand list. But its gonna take time.. at least a year, to get the PR.

So what I plan to do is 1. Apply for PR. 2 While waiting for PR to come thru, Prepare and write the GMAT exam 3. Once I get the PR, Go to OZ and get the MBA degree. IMHO, Its slightly risky to get a PR on the basis of your Australian MBA degree.

As for the value of the Australian MBA, I would prefer not to comment on or be influenced by such a blanket/generic factoid !!

Becoz they are not worried of lossing or of rejections... but we/u are worried of rejections and loosing some peny if we cant make it. Think practicle buddy.

Shouldn't it be the other way around? I mean.. hair dressers/ fitters have a lot more to lose than a typical white collar job holder..

Anyway, the PR points system does change from time to time. But whatever rules that are in place at the time you submit the PR application holds good to consider ur case. So it doesn't matter if the rules change after that.

Re: MBA in Australia - 30-07-2007, 02:30 PM

What is the rationale behind going for an MBA from Australia in the first place? Any specific reasons for this choice as there are better options available elsewhere....

Can you provide data/link on how the points are calculated?
Till now I was under the impression that it is not difficult to get PR after an MBA from AGSM or MBS. You got any better insights on this??
