NUS, Chicago GSB, Singapore Campus, some other B-schools from India have also reportedly set up base there.
try and look through various other forums. this forum does not cater to these queries (try phoren B-school and others)

Hi,
Thanks for the deadlines!
I am taking my GMAT on Nov 2. I know i will be late to apply for R1 in most B Schools.
Can you tell me whats the reason behind R1, R2, R3....Is it that one has better chances to get through if he applies for R1?? | | | | | The Following User Says NO Thank You to gmatican For This Un-useful Post: | | | | | |

R1, R2 and R3 is simply their way of making sure that your app gets full attention. Its unlike the system in india where everything has a weightage and points to it so you just feed into the system and Vola!, you get an admit, or you don't.
they want to make sure they have given your app to atleast 2 readers and since more info is asked it takes time for them to go thru it.
Hence 1 2 & 3.
as for the chances, statistically R1 is better than R2 but only if you would theoretically have equally strong apps in them. Otherwise it is common sense that you submit your app when you are ready.
R3 is not recommended by most schools for international students cause of Visa, lack of scholarships, boarding etc.

I'd like to add to what kunal said..In R1 the chances of one getting in are much higher..compared to R2...similarly R2>R3....statistically .....coz the number of seats u r contending for in th first round is higher compared to the number of seats in the second round....E.g a smalll school like stanford takes in around 360-370 students per class..After the first round they might have taken in 180 students...say...so the secod time around u are competing only for 180 seats and not for 360 seats as u were doing in the first round....this applies for the consequent rounds too.. So R1>R2>R3..
But this doesnt mean that it is impossible to get in the colleges in the second round. If ur app is strong then u definitely stand a chance.. sandy | | | | | The Following User Says NO Thank You to sandy_venkat For This Un-useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
