I havent yet taken my GMAT.

Two questions:
1. Do u think takin my GMAT on 10th Sept is taking chances with the R1 application..
Is it too late? Considering that by date, I will have all my essays and reccos ready? And apply right on the D day i.e. on 10th?

2. I have just shifted companies.. It is highly unlikely that I get a recco from someone at my new job... Can I get a recco from my lead at the prev job?

BTW... wats "DING" .. A novice as u can see....
Thanks !!!
Shruti....
Shruthi .. If I had been in your position I think I would consider applying for R2.
That would have given me time for GMAT, essays and to prove myself at TCS. Applying late but with a better profile would have been my bet. But if you have it in you to apply for R1 with an equally compelling package then go ahead ..shoot.

It has to be a decision based on your strengths and self assesment.

A few schools even provide a practical course on strategy where the team of students provides consulting services to a few organizations. But such features are not a part of the ISB curriculum. Also ISB does not have an internship unlike a 2 year MBA. I understand that the pace of learning at ISB is very hectic and cannot incorporate everything that a 2 year MBA does. Also to be honest, I just 'think' these courses are important because of their regular appearance in the curriculum of many schools. My apprehension is that the recruiters should not consider the course at ISB to be lacking in depth and offer positions that may not be on par with students foreign Bschool students. I know I am being picky and thinking a little further down the lane but this might be the last time I might be sitting inside a classroom and want to make the most of this oppurtunity . I understand the quantity of the offers is good but request you to please give your comments on the quality?

Thanks for your time and patience.

Good questions, I should say. But what makes you think that strategy, modelling, competitive analysis and forecasting are not in ISB curriculum. And for your information ISB has a practicum called ELP(experiential learning program) where students work with a selected organization and help them strategize. Several marquee companies have had their India entry plans strategized by ISB students in the past and if everthing goes fine I shd be starting in one very soon. But it is true that everything is compressed within the 1 year at ISB. So consider ISB only if you are prepared to slug it out. And finally I guess it is a good virtue to be picky. After all it is a lifetime investment bud

Well I did not find subjects by these names in the curriculum of ISB - neither in the 4 semesters of core courses nor in the Electives list. I tried to understand the content of the above mentioned courses and match it with the description of each course branded under Strategy. And frankly speaking, got exhausted and exasperated with the amount of work that had to be done. So took the easier route of putting a post in forum so that someone conversant with these subjects can comment

Bingo!! This is what I wanted. The thing that I missed. Think I saw ELP but confused it with LDP. Case of a miss because of oversight.

Hi all, could anyone recommend some interview coaching centers in Delhi geared towards MBA aspirants?

Assuming one gets through to the interview stage in ISB, is it worth getting some "professional" help for interview prep? What do you guys think?

Hey ppl...

Im working on the essays and the second one has me a bit stumped. A million dollars or knighthood..and why?
How do you approach this? what kind of thought process needs to go behind it? Any pointers and tips from anyone to get my creative juices flowing pls?

cheers!!

1. Think what you would choose.
2. Think why you would choose the 'what'
3. Think of instances in your life that have made you think the 'why' way.

I think presenting these issues itself will consume the 300 words.
Hope I got some creative juice to trickle ..if not flow

ATB.
