Also, do reapplicants need to get their recos. again irrespective of the reco. questions changing or not?

I would agree with you that this essay is very similar to the first essay last year. ATB

Thanks! Yes I did get an interview call.. I must have messed it up pretty bad to not even make it to the waitlist

But seriously speaking, the interview had went rather average vis a vis my expectations, and I have only a faint idea of what went wrong. The panel seemed uninterested and my feedback too was an unilluminating "You did well in the application but could not show the same enthusiasm in the interviews." My communication skills certainly aren't bad and I think it might have been more my body language than anything else.. I guess I'll never know, but this time I'll be ready! Hi bornforyou,

My profile:
IT engg (Mumbai Univ) : 61.3%
Work ex: 21 months (Syntel +TCS(currently))

I wanna apply for R1 of ISB.
I havent yet taken my GMAT.

Two questions:
1. Do u think takin my GMAT on 10th Sept is taking chances with the R1 application..
Is it too late? Considering that by date, I will have all my essays and reccos ready? And apply right on the D day i.e. on 10th?

2. I have just shifted companies.. It is highly unlikely that I get a recco from someone at my new job... Can I get a recco from my lead at the prev job?

BTW... wats "DING" .. A novice as u can see....
Thanks !!!
Shruti....

Shruti...Taking your GMAT by Sept. 10th is fine because you can send a copy of your unofficial score report that you get from the test center. But ensure that your GMAT prep does not eat into the quality of essays that you will be submitting.

As for the reco, getting it from your ex-employer shd we fine and it sounds to be a better option in your case. And in these forums a "DING" means a reject from a b-school ! ATB.

A 780 not enough to hurdle the barrier!! Well, I'm sure you'd crack it with ease this time. Good luck...

1. From my research, I see that ISB does not have a very special focus on SC unlike a few foriegn BSchools. Did my research miss anything?
And if strategic consulting is your focus ISB is definitely the place. The consulting club has 300 members. And there are many good firms that recruit like BCG, AT Kearney, Diamond and many more niche consulting firms. I think overall around 100-120 from Class of 2007 got into Consulting.
Sorry, My fault that I did not clearly state what I meant by "special focus unlike a few foriegn BSchools. " I find that many schools incorporate courses like Strategic Modeling, Business Dynamics, Competitive Analysis, Forecasting etc in their curriculum. A few schools even provide a practical course on strategy where the team of students provides consulting services to a few organizations. But such features are not a part of the ISB curriculum. Also ISB does not have an internship unlike a 2 year MBA. I understand that the pace of learning at ISB is very hectic and cannot incorporate everything that a 2 year MBA does. Also to be honest, I just 'think' these courses are important because of their regular appearance in the curriculum of many schools. My apprehension is that the recruiters should not consider the course at ISB to be lacking in depth and offer positions that may not be on par with students foreign Bschool students. I know I am being picky and thinking a little further down the lane but this might be the last time I might be sitting inside a classroom and want to make the most of this oppurtunity . I understand the quantity of the offers is good but request you to please give your comments on the quality?

Thanks for your time and patience.
