My only dilemma was leaving my current high paying job with the a very large corporate house. However after a lot of discussons with senior bankers / mgt consultants (I know quite a few of them because of professional interactions with these people), I am taking a calculated risk, which I hope will pay-off. Post ISB I am looking forward to Corporate Finance / Corporate Banking / Financial Re-engeering / Strategy kind of roles.
By the way here goes my profile:

Hi,
Can anyone pls provide the format for the recommendation letters.
I am planning to apply for 2009-10, but as I am gonna leave my current job in about a month, I wanted to take one recommendation from my current employer. ISB site says the format will be available only when the application process starts for 2009-10, and that's in july.
So pls if anyone can provide the format, it'd be of a great help. They steal quotes from my t-shirts!! | | | | | | | |

There are 2 ways in which the evaluation letter can be filled. one is the online mode where you provide the official email id of your current/previous employer and ISB sends the document with questions they want to ask the employer to his official email id. in this case you will not be able to see the questions etc
The second way is the offline mode where you download the recommendation letter and email it/give a print to your evaluator and let him fill it and courier it to the school.
The format typically is 5-6 questions which need to be answered by your evaluator in about 250-300 words. These questions are meant to enable the Adcom understand your employer's take on you and your professional progress. It also helps them understand your job profile, strengths, weaknesses, nature, attitude, abilities, maturity and conduct. These are extremely important for the adcom to be able to judge your ripeness for a business education and your fit.
Since the questions are something that might change there is no point, in my opinion, trying to aske your evaluator to fill in the old evaluation letter. Suggest you keep him in the loop and tell him you would be contacting him for a letter of recommendation. I too had one evaluation letter from the current employer and one from the previous. I simply opted for the online process and asked him to do the needful. He received the word doc, filled it in accordingly and submitted it online. By informing him now you are probably doing the best you can at this stage.
One more thing, once the addmission portal opens, you can send the evaluation letter before your application as well incase its completed.
Hope this has helped answer your query.

Rishika | Hi Rishika,
Thanx for the great explanation. It sure does help
But I have one doubt... you have said that the evaluation letter can be sent before the application portal opens. Does this mean that evaluation letter format will be made available before the opening of the admission process?
And also, I guess the questions asked in the evaluation letter cannot vary much every year, they have to be more or less similar. So wouldn't getting the format now and letting the recommender fill it will be helpful? bcoz, this way i can be in touch with him during the form filling...
Thanx once again
