Another ding!
Profile: 640/6.0/MS(US)/8+years(all US, all IT)/Lead Engineer
Not entirely sure if anyone else had this experience during the IV, does finding the right placement post-MBA (in terms of PAY & position)weigh on the selection criteria? It would really help to get some insight on this, since my decision to re-app will be based on this(with an improved GMAT, ofcourse). If they think they cant place me in sync with my experience level, I will be wasting my time & effort re-apping to ISB.
Also, I am located in the bay area and looking for people in the vicinity(San Fran/Silicon Valley) who either got thru or got ding'ed and who would like to meet up to discuss their IV experiences and future COA, w.r.t re-apping to ISB or app-ing to IIMA/IIMC/IIML/IMD/INSEAD for 2009-2010 programs. I intend to go full-throttle, now that I have experienced the fun in going after the BIG B's.

I am waitlisted for ISB and have an offer with IIMA PGPX. In my ISB I/V, I was asked what my ideal post-MBA job was. The panel thought I was aiming too high. I agreed, but pointed out that I have solid exp (8 yrs) in my chosen field blah blah. Not sure if that had any impact. In any case, I dont think you should base your 'decision' to reapp on this, but rather tailor your app and pitch so its music to their ears. From a placement perspective, I am sure lateral placements will be avlbl for exp candidates. An improved GMAT will definitely help, but remember IT work ex is a pretty competitive pool.

did anyone with 5+ /6+ yrs of experience in IT clear R2? if yes can you let me know. i would be interested in evaluating the possible differences in the app so that i can close that gap next year.

btw, i mailed admission folks regarding the reason for rejection. they have asked to check with in may.

I don't think that post -MBA job prospects matter that much till you have set your goals within reach. One example that is mentioned is don't expect to be a CEO or be leading a team of 50-100 or something like that right after MBA, be realistic. In my interview I messed up this part as I was not sure which company I want to work for or for that matter the size of the company. I told them that I am not sure about this and I need to do more research as I have never worked back home. I was told that I indeed need to work on it and that I have set some challenging goals post MBA which might be difficult to attain. But again I did not claim to be a CEO etc...so I could defend what I wrote. And yes I did get the admit. Hope this helps.

This is a very good idea. I was also thinking about this.
I have created a thread http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...andidates.html (ISB08 - Future course of action for candidates rejected after interview)

May be we can share our views here.
