Another ding!
Profile: 640/6.0/MS(US)/8+years(all US, all IT)/Lead Engineer
Not entirely sure if anyone else had this experience during the IV, does finding the right placement post-MBA (in terms of PAY & position)weigh on the selection criteria? It would really help to get some insight on this, since my decision to re-app will be based on this(with an improved GMAT, ofcourse). If they think they cant place me in sync with my experience level, I will be wasting my time & effort re-apping to ISB.
Also, I am located in the bay area and looking for people in the vicinity(San Fran/Silicon Valley) who either got thru or got ding'ed and who would like to meet up to discuss their IV experiences and future COA, w.r.t re-apping to ISB or app-ing to IIMA/IIMC/IIML/IMD/INSEAD for 2009-2010 programs. I intend to go full-throttle, now that I have experienced the fun in going after the BIG B's.

In my ISB I/V, I was asked what my ideal post-MBA job was. The panel thought I was aiming too high. I agreed, but pointed out that I have solid exp (8 yrs) in my chosen field blah blah. Not sure if that had any impact. In any case, I dont think you should base your 'decision' to reapp on this, but rather tailor your app and pitch so its music to their ears. From a placement perspective, I am sure lateral placements will be avlbl for exp candidates. An improved GMAT will definitely help, but remember IT work ex is a pretty competitive pool.

One example that is mentioned is don't expect to be a CEO or be leading a team of 50-100 or something like that right after MBA, be realistic. In my interview I messed up this part as I was not sure which company I want to work for or for that matter the size of the company. I told them that I am not sure about this and I need to do more research as I have never worked back home. I was told that I indeed need to work on it and that I have set some challenging goals post MBA which might be difficult to attain. But again I did not claim to be a CEO etc...so I could defend what I wrote. And yes I did get the admit. Hope this helps.

Im Surprised to see that so many PG guys have been rejected.. usually pg has a good track record becaus eall of us excel in our respective fields and have good guidance at our disposal thru PG.. Its quite disheartening to see so many rejects.. ATB to all of u.. Im sure something better will turn up soon
Sameer This is not what I had in mind.. But then, it's not as worse as I thought it would be..
