Though this essay provides a chance to talk about his philanthrophic associations I think his purpose is too unrealistic for an Indian school adcom to believe. So my question is

Does the adcom want to look at the Realistic nature of the essay or is it just helping us vent out such a facet of our personality while admitting a generous dose of fantasy?

We argued, fought but could not reach a conclusion so I thought democracy would help.
I hope to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Guys suggestions please!!

IMHO, the ad com should accept that a person might donate a million dollars in charity as long as the applicant can project that he has been involved in philanthropic activities in the past... I think that the essay is meant for us to show what we have 'created' (headed a post that was set up for the first time, took and nurtured an initiative etc).

Once you establish that you have an experience in 'creating' things, u can connect it to how would you use the million $. In this case, ur friend may say that he will 'create' a new initiative in charity with the money and justify the usage. And you may write that you will start ur business or watever it is that u want to do with the million $.

And I hope you also got adcom's feedback as to why you were rejected last year. ATB.
TAL BornforYou. This really helps. I am also a re-applicant.
As you mentioned, Adcome gives feedback and one should work towards filling the gaps mentioned. Now my question is particulary to Re-applicant essays. I was thinking on the same lines. Actually, I think I have almost attacked everything mentioned in ISB Feedback like..I improved my GMAT, I got a better role, moved to a new place n all...

Now do you think it is ok to write the essay similaryly ..to write the feedback and then attack each ? May be its not quite conventional...

The format should not be an issue. You have to optimize based on content and the word limit. Anyhow the moment you say you are a re-applicant the adcom is going to pull up your old application also.

Hi,

I need some help with the essays. Does anyone know of a good, reliable link with the essay structure, sample essays etc relevant to ISB? I tried to google some but there are so many sites that sifting through each one is tedious. So if I could have the benefit of someone else's experience in searching for the site in question, I would be much obliged.

Regards.
Eyeris.

Hi friends,

Can anyone here provide me an evaluation of my profile.
I intend to apply for ISB an IIM 2008/09 session of PGPX.

1. Have 5 and a half year of leadership experience as a commissioned officer in indian air force.(completeing six by start of programme)

2. Age 27 years.

3. GMAT 710 and AWA 5.

5. B.Com Punjab university 66.4 % (19997-2000)

6. +2- 82.4%(CBSE)

7. 10th- 67.4% (CBSE)

8. Good extra curriculars in college and school(NCC, Cicet, hockey, theater, cultural dance)

I am interested in knowing the following things and will request anyone with the requiste knowledge to kindly provide the necessery guidance:

(a) What is the attitude of ISB guys towards people with military experience.
(b) What is their track record in giving admissions to military people(are some statistics available on this somewhere because the site doesnt disclose these numbers).
(c) Does my profile show any weakness(will try to improve dat for example my GMAT score etc).

Thanks

Harry

Thanks in advance!!!
