Currently, Fee has been increased by 6 Lacs.
No of Participants also has been increased which brings down some costs.
Fully agree. Just mentioned that when he had written the article, the fees must still have been 8 or 10 L. At 14 or 15 Lakh, yes. Reasonable. I was just mentioning the date to keep the context in mind while reading that article. (Actually the post I had replied to did keep the date in mind)

But I do not know about economy of scale because of the cool AC houses that are being provided. And if students go up more than 80, you would need 2 PGP X sections. That would again need more resources.

Re: Paper by IIMA prof criticizes PGPX - 24-05-2007, 03:54 PM

I am a student in the current PGPX class. My comments are as follows.

This document has been in public domain for some time and in fact has been part of my input evaluation to join this institute/ not. I have enquired then about the article and got more inputs from the pioneering batch. IIMA has a system of autonomy to profs in running the school. Every issue is discusssed thread bare by the profs and decisions taken. There are many views and freedom of expression is encouraged. Like in any organisation, there are multiple view points, some times conflicting but the spirit is in deriving the best of these arguments given the context. Last year as an outsider, it was important for me to check this out. My research told me that the insti considers PGPX one of the important decisions it has taken and is going to play a dominant role in the future. I have given up admits in other schools to join PGPX.

Having come here and spent close to 2 months, I am convinced my decision is right. The min age and experience barriers are first steps of differentiation with other programmes. The roles targetted during placement are very different and thus even the pedagogy has been adapted to recognise the experiential aspect of the class. IIMA has only enhanced it's portfolio of products. Considering the clear differentiation and single minded pursuit of the institute, I do not see any confusion arising. Even if it exists now, in a couple of months / years, as students pass out and perform, things will get much clearer.

People who are above 27 years, with 7 years of work ex and above, aspiring to get into middle and senior roles in organisations operating in global arena should consider PGPX. Clearly, no other institute in India barring (IIMC) is offering a product which is comparable. Market will decide the value of this product. For the uninitiated please check the first response of the market- One Year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives

So, guys dont worry about IIMA's focus on PGPX and other trivia. If you are in the target group, it may be worthwhile to consider it now.

Just a reminder that the thread starter is mbawhizz and he started how ISB is better than IIM last year and told us the same thing that he was headed for MS even last year... also started something in the lines like ibankers are useless etc... etc... Either hope that this dude gets into an IIM or waste your time in his yearly IIM bashing threads as he fails the CAT/GD/PI yet again...

If an IIM Prof criticizes PGPX my respect for the Prof and IIM only goes a bit higher... Some of the best Profs in the US have criticized the entire concept of MBA in the US including sumantra ghoshal, mintzberg and even more stellar names... So what do you do now?? stop doing MBA altogether... Most Criticism is for bringing about improvement and thats the way it should be seen.

Good Luck mbawhizz for your next CAT.

I was following this thread and found AVOMC remarking that only time will tell the truth.

And now we know the truth... Good job, Time in delivering on the promise...
