Re: INSEAD admit taking question - 03-10-2007, 02:46 PM

Hi Insead.admit

Two specific questions:

1. I have avg extra curriculars but no certificates to support them as i never won any competition. How would Insead take it as? Should i mention them at all in my application?

2. Community service: I am working with an NGO. Problem is that though i was planning to join this organization long back, due to work pressure and GMAT prep i ended up joining after GMAT. Would you suggest adding this NGO experience in my application?

regards

Dear INSEAD ADMIT,
First of all I must commend you for this valuable guidance and information, which has indeed provided great insights into the entire admission process about the school of my dreams.
My profile
- Age -31 yrs
-10 years in the Army in varied capacities ranging from commanding a company fighting insurgents in the Kasmir valley, handling logistics, administration and welfare of appx 2000 troops employed in conventional and non- conventinal role to commanding a company- equivalent in an Armoured Div.
- Got selected to do an engineering course in an army institute and completed my degree in IT & Telecom with an aggregate CGPA of 8.33/9
- Have a pretty decent academic record in X(87%) and XII(87%)
- Have been selected for the Army Squash Team and been a keen sportsman , with participation in almost all games at the unit level.
- GMAT given twice: improved from 650(49,30) to 710(49,37)
- Was associated with an NGO in the Army.

Queries
- Is the profile strong enough to get to the interview stage?
- How Does INSEAD admit commitee validate the transcripts? Will the attestation from the registrar be sufficient or the originals have to be sent?
-

Hi All,

Have any of the INSEAD (R1) applicants received any interview invitations?

INSEAD is a great school. It could open many doors for your post MBA plans.
One thing, which we tend to neglect is that world is not just US. And with latest H1 fiasco. I personally know of someone who has cancelled his decision to go to chicago and go to INSEAD instead.
He found that INSEAD will give him recognition throughout the world Europe, Asia, Middle east. The whole world is your oyster. He found from his research that chicago and all are great schools but unheard of in europe / asia.

Finally with just 11 month investment your chances of going wrong are even lesser ( compared to being found without a H1 or economic depression in US)
Hi Amit
I am really interested in apping to INSEAD.how i am apprehensive on account of 2 issues...
1. I dont have international work-ex..i heard insead is particular abt this
2. i will have just abt 3 yrs by 2k8..& age of 25+..is it a gud idea to app now or wait for 1 more year..i believe avg work ex is 5 & age is 29 or so..

my profile is as below
acads greater thn 85% thoughout
Btech IITD
GMAT- 720( 50,36), 5/6
work-ex- 2 yr fmcg, 1 yr consulting

also plz through some light on placements, & financing the MBA & schols...wrt to indians

Quick question: are the transcripts supposed to be submitted before the deadline or they can be submitted afterwards also? If somebody has the link to where they have mentioned the details would be helpful

Re: INSEAD admit taking question - 27-11-2007, 02:56 PM

can I send my transcripts before submitting the application.

Do I get any application id that needs to be mentioned on the transcripts.

If I will send all the transcripts in the envelope then how will they get to know that I have sent it. Do I need to send any cover letter or any document with my details. Or do I need to write anything on the envelope?

Please reply soon... I am planning to send all the transcripts today only.

Sachin

Hi,

I have been wait-listed for the batch of Sep 2008. I have a few queries with respect to the wait-lists converting to admits.

1. How many eventual participants of the programs were wait-listed in the first place in the last batch?
2. Should we push any additional information about our profile (promotion on the job-front, achievement in EC, etc.)?

Please advise.

Regards

Greetings,
I would appreciate if you could comment on my profile.
Indian/M30/Telecommunication Engineer. (Initially I was with an IT company then shifted to a product dev company in 2006 which is into Telecom switches dev.)
WE: 7.5 years (3 years in project management) I am considered as top 10% of the employees in my present org.
GMAT: 690 (Q49. 35. 4)
Acads: 5.87/10 (IIT Mumbai) (Is this a big concern for selecting candidates?)
Extra Cur: held three of the most reputed elected posts at IIT. Led innovation throughout my undergraduation years.
Extra-Professional: Involved with a political/social organization for social service since Dec. 2005.

I was thinking of applying in Round 3 for Sep 2008 Intake, but I am also considering the option for Jan 2009 Intake. Please advise on my profile and the class I should aim for.

Cordially,
Vikrant
