Hi insead admit !
How did u fund ur INSEAD education..
i'm based in India where the Edu Loans carry a huge rate of interest.. ~12-13%, while other loans like the ones from Paras foundation etc require a US Citizen as a cosigner.. I don't have a US citizen as a cosigner..

fellow INSEAD applicants.... how do u intend to fund the INSEAD course.. ?

Please advise and guide me...

Funding education is always tricky.

Most people take loans in India with property as mortgage. It's tough, I know, but the real truth. MBA education is expensive.

Hi Insead Admit,
Thanks for taking so many questions
Can you pour your thots on the following:

..i come from a common pool of IT-26 male, i will have 4 years exp by next year,
i have been working as a CRM consultant for the last three years,,,,i think this is something i can sell, in spite of being from an IT background,,,,my question to you is, how difficult is it to convince the adcom that u r fit to take a cross to finance/consulting, when i dont even know what is a balance sheet .....and insead being a 11 months course, does it equip the students for a career change from IT to say consulting,,,,,
Also, please do let us know if u have any info on placements in Insead for Indian IT male to say consulting/marketing,,,i think this is something that will help everybody in the group!...
cheers
Phani

Re: INSEAD admit taking question - 04-05-2007, 11:42 PM

hi insead admit, i am extracting text from ur earlier reply and adding comment to it.

INSEAD is known to be very strong in strategy.
It's got a very positive recognition in the market for it's rigorous coursework.
could u help me to find something more on it friend? some survey, some link on website? suggest me some place to get info on relative strenths of colleges.

INSEAD is 11 months not because of lack of studies but rather the fact that there was always a scope ( compared to US schools) to compress things into a 11 month marathon.
u sure it is only compression and not omission- remember i am doing a track change from a functional position in sales and marketing to strategy : P.s. can i pm u my profile.

Initially I was also thinking that one won't do much in 11 months. It's just a stamping. But after interacting with students and see'ing their course content w.r.t top 5 schools in US. I am confident that the course will help you get 80-90% (if not all) covered. Rest is on you.

thanks mate!!

If it adds any weight, kelloggs's in US and our very own IIM-A / C also have 1 year MBA's. It just makes your student life more exhausting ( and not to be found hiking in columbia with fellow students on random walks every 2 months )

agree, but i read the blog of 2 insead student and he mentioned only parties on campus was quite strange gave me the feel that the entire atmoshpere was laid back
can u help me with more blog links.???

i have been seriously contemplaating to apply at insead.

So INSEAD should be a very good school for you. You have relevant business experience and now want to polish it more

you could not be more right, i want to polish skill and more acadmic inputs to my small experience+ global best practises.

As for cost; INSEAD tution fees is 48,000 Euros. This is lower than US schools but definitely more than most other non-US schools. I guess the school considers itself (for a reason) in the same league as top 7 in US and so benchmarks fees in relativity. With a 11 month course your ROI is also bound to be much higher than anywhere else.[/quote]

mn cost is not an issue for a 1 year corse the roi is too good for all one year course we we are ready to slog our ass..

looking forward to your answer

Thanks for replying guys. I definitely am gonna apply to INSEAD, infact INSEAD was on my list of five schools when I took the GMAT. I have a couple of questions though,

1) The one year MBA, does it cause a problem with placements for career switchers like me? I did see a few others ask this question before but have not gotten a solid grasp on the answer.
2) Does INSEAD release any placement data other the PDF on their website about where the placements are happening? I am just weighing the chances for a guy like me getting placed in the US post MBA. The PDF on INSEAD's website has only overall number of people placed in each region and not specifics.
3) Does the Jan intake have any advantage over the Sep intake or vice versa?
4) Lastly does INSEAD ask for some proof to waive the TOEFL, if yes what would that be?

1) The one year MBA, does it cause a problem with placements for career switchers like me? I did see a few others ask this question before but have not gotten a solid grasp on the answer.

Alfred: There is no yes or no answer. It depends on how hard u try and to an extent luck. Doing an internship, showing companies u have interest matters. So, INSEAD's janaury batch is an even better option. In general I am told that consulting companies are more open to career switchers than IB's.

2) Does INSEAD release any placement data other the PDF on their website about where the placements are happening? I am just weighing the chances for a guy like me getting placed in the US post MBA. The PDF on INSEAD's website has only overall number of people placed in each region and not specifics.

Alfred: Don;t expect much in US. As said in previous post, how will u justify to companies ur US as career choice. Why US? Best go to US schools if u are dead sure on US as ur only option to be.
What specifics do u need? INSEAD's website has a career report, which details how many are in which country. Look carefully, I personally found it to be quite detailled and exhaustive.

3) Does the Jan intake have any advantage over the Sep intake or vice versa?

Alfred: I would say internship option makes it better for those set on Ibanking. Otherwise, I am told all's same.

4) Lastly does INSEAD ask for some proof to waive the TOEFL, if yes what would that be?

Alfred: They didnt; ask me anything. They understand that most indian colleges are english medium
