H1B questions: Well as per apri 13th 14,000 out of 20,000 is already gone and NOTE that this is for people who graduated last year. So many from even harvard will have no choice but to go somewhere else. Students get their degrees in May.By that time quota of 20k will be gone. Thats for sure.

Financial aid: We have many scholarships. If you have a different back ground, are a girl your chances of differentiation and thus getting one increase even more. As per stats almost 30% or so of class gets a scholarship.
As for me I am taking a loan from a singapore bank. Most indians I know are borrowing from India. The students had formed a formal tie up with Bank of Punjab ( and some others) for a lower interest rate.

You can worry on all this once in

Hey INSEAD.admit

Does Insead has more combined placements or Placments are held different for each campus.
The average work exp on Insead site shows around 6 years ,that really scares me off,do they really take folks wid 3-4 years of work exp.

Placements are common.
In fact insead doesnt even disclose your current physical location to companies. We have a state of the art video conferencing system, which is used by companies to interview people remotely. very common for people to cross apply.

As for experience the average stats might be around that area but I see enough indians in my class with 3 years work exp. ( some are even coming straight). So as long as u can show maturity and clarity of goals in ur essays you should be fine.

Hey,
I guess I just got lucky

Seriously speaking nobody knows what gets you in and what keeps you out. I know people selected at INSEAD with much lesser GMAT score, experience and no international experience.

I guess as they cliche goes: it's a package. Be clear in ur essays. Justify your goals. Link your past to the future and differentiate from the guy sitting next to you and writting for same consulting /i-banking carrer.

In this age of competition you have to show that you know a lot about school as well. So research well on school's specific resources which will help you.
For INSEAD showing that you have an international outlook might help.

Re: INSEAD admit taking question - 28-04-2007, 04:27 AM

Hello,

I have a hotel management background but accepted my first placement in Dubai. Have worked in Dubai for 6 years and the last 3 years I have been based in the UK - selling a 5 star hotel resort in Eastern Europe for the last 1 year. I am not sure what the Insead policy is wrt older applicants - I will be 32 this year. My career goals are entrepreneurship/hospitality consultancy. Extracurriculars were significant in college but the last 4 years have been dedicated to motherhood and main activities outside of work include toddler sports/music etc

My GMAT score is 690 (well-balanced wrt quant/verbal).

Really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks and regards,

Madhu

MRajesh...

unwarranted reply here... insead.admit could perhaps bolster it.. but here goes anyway..

Your profile sounds like 'made for INSEAD'... A unique background+ lots of Int exposure... that too middle east + europe... unique career goals.. (diff from the normal indian bunch of IB+MC) and a good GMAT score... Insead's pretty keen on entrepreneurship too..

IMHO you should definitely apply to INSEAD and you have a grt chance... the PLUS is that there are some scholarships available Insead specifically for women.. like teh Booz Hamilton one...

all the best...

PS: age is not a factor at all.. insead is known to have older students and I m pretty sure u ll find a lot of people older than you there...

Thanks a lot - I am keeping my fingers crossed for Insead - I see a perfect fit between the college and me/my goals. Let's hope they think the same way

Hi insead admit,

congrats for your admit, lucky are people who get the college of there choice
i have following questions for you

1) Insead hows it for strategy- i am specifcally intrested in marketing strategy, have no intrest in i banking

2) i am an engineer with bad acads, but above average career progression,( was best manager in india among 40 others for 2007-h2) have total 5 yrs experience by dec 2007 in 2 mnc.my experience is in product management encompassing channel and corporate sales.have had good exposure in co curricular activities.industry home aplliances and consumer goods- region western india -mumbai

3) another concern is the course regorous enough? it has to be, in 11 months i need to master strategy. i cant join a laid back college as i am primed for heavy hard work, in my work life and i cant take a laid back course.

4) placement for marketing & bussines strategy graduates? any idea...would love to
know the answer of same from you.

5) you know any other 1 year courses?specifically that could help me i n gaining knowledge of strategy.

Regards,

Sunil

Hey INSEAD.admit..
Congrats on getting in...

Somebody told me that INSEAD is one of the costliest MBA progs outside US.. That's why I had to drop it from my list
Now I velieve I can have a more first-hand view on the topic..How much does it actually cost (Tution fee + living + other expenses )??
