Strategy consulting schools

Hi All,
I am mad at Strategy consulting and I compiled the following list of schools which are better in SC. Could you guys please advise whether any other Top 25 schools need to be added up with the list? Thank you..
1. Hardward university
2. Stanford university
3. Dartmouth school(Tuck)
4. Wharton
5. Kellogg
6. Yale
7. Michigan
8. Darden
9. Chicago
10. MIT
11. Berk(Haas)
12. Emory
13. Carnegie Mellon(Tepper)

Things that make me go .. huh

What you have asked for can be gleaned by going through the placement stats for individual schools and then figuring out where the consulting guys hire from. I am not sure any rankings are available to discern that information. But the top 5/6 schools are feeder schools and would help you get a foot into the door of the Strat. Consulting firms

You forgot Duke. It has a pretty strong Strategy concentration.

Businessweek's online premium content - MBA insider also has some write ups/articles distinguishing schools by speciality. Although there is a fee for it , I think its worth a read.

I'm afraid to say but you made a faux pas.. for the simple reason that your list did not contain INSEAD, which is actually at the top of the pack when you are considering Strategy/ Consulting schools.

I dont know how you arrived at that list.. but if Management Consulting recruiters are your sole criteria then I dont blame you.

Well, to make a list of Top B-schools specialising in Strategic Consulting, I would consider the following criteria:

1) Availability of Specilization/ Concentration tracks in Management Consulting/ Strategy
2) Adequacy of number of electives relating to Strategy/ Consulting
3) Existence & pro-activeness of a (student run) Consulting Club
4) No. of Management Consulting firms recruiting at the school/ No. & % of students joining MC firms
5) Reputation of School/ Faculty for Strategy/ Consulting as per current students, alumni & the MC firms
6) Focus & emphasis / attitude/ dedication of the School management towards Consulting industry

After days of empirical research, I was able to make a list of some schools fitting in those criteria. But I could not find some readily available list/ high end research to corroborate my findings. Before I put down my list, one clear disclaimer: THIS LIST DOES NOT CONTAIN THE TOP 10 GLOBAL B-SCHOOLS, with exceptions of 2. (I know one can dispute over the top 10 list endlessly, but just drop that..) In the top schools, any where, all kinds of recruiters are going to flock, so will the MC firms.. but that does not necessarily make that school specialized in Consulting/ Strategy. By excluding them, I am aware that I may miss out on a school which is actually quite focused on Consulting. I am running that risk and request you guys to fill out that gap by including the top schools in the list i.e. only if it fulfils the above mentioned criteria. Well, here is my list (also consisting their global rankings as per FT MBA 2008 rankings):

1) INSEAD, France (# 6) [well this school is truly a gem in consulting.. though being in Top 10, still included here.. cant miss out.. ]
2) NYU - Stern, USA (# 13)
3) Dartmouth College - Tuck, USA (# 15)
4) Carnegie Mellon - Tepper, USA (# 4
5) Cornell University - Johnson, USA (# 36)
6) RSM - Erasmus University, Netherlands (# 34)
7) University of Chicago GSB, USA (# 9)
Duke Fuqua, USA (# 2
9) ISB, India (# 20)
10) University of Virginia - Darden, USA (# 33)
11) Emory University - Goizueta (# 26)
12) IESE - University of Navarra, Spain (# 11)

This is just a list & not a ranking.. though, the top 5 mentioned in this list is undisputedly in that order...

Guys (who are interested in Consulting), roll up ur sleeves & dig for more.. i am sure, we can deliberate & come to a agreeable list of the Top Strategic Consulting B-Schools..

Seems to be a very well thought out list....

You could also consider adding UC Berkeley (Haas) in there....wot say vyom?

UC Berkely - Haas!!! Hmm... I actually did considered it in my evaluation.. You see, just simply by going to the school's website, you can find many things... u'll learn that there is no speciality in Strategy/ Consulting, neither sufficient electives to make the equivalent. It does have a Consulting Cub which is pretty good. The MC recruiters are not consistent there (though the list of MC recruiters will contain all those recruiter over the years). I spoke to one of my acquaintances about this school and his views on the Consulting aspect of Haas were not very great. Though, undoubtedly it is a very good school (FT 2008 ranks it at 32 globally) with a great reputation. But when it comes to Consulting, I am litle skeptical. I suggest you to re-consider it after some more research. And if we feel that it has what it takes to be a good Consulting B-school, we will add it to the list..
