Hi Coolguy
If you read my original post, you will see my clear disclaimer that I have not included d Top 10 schools with exceptions of 2 and the reasons for the same. Yes, you are right in saying that that's where MC firms mostly recruit from for the simple reason that they want all the cream!! I also said that by excluding the Top 10, I am running a major risk. Hope, you will fill dat GAP. But ensure that the school you are mentioning satisfies all the criteria I mentioned in my original post, 'coz if u just list all the Top 10 schools, then probably we do not need this post and can just refer to any good rankings and thats it. But catch is most of the schools reputation in regards to specialisation is held in regards to Finance, Marketing, HR, OB, Innovation etc. But there is very less info available to determine where a school stands in MC/ Strategy. Thats why this post and the criteria to determine that.
I guess, we should come out with much refined criteria and take help of PagalGuy.com to establish a ranking of say Top 25 B-schools globally specialising in Consulting/ Strategy. Wot say, administrators?
Also, regarding your second question of NYU - Stern.. Yes, it is known to be a very strong school in Finance, especially because of its proximity & relations with Wall Street. Most of Finance Co.'s in Wall Street have their first choice as Stern. But needless to say, since the concept of specialization in Consulting/ Strategy is less accepted by people, primarily because it basically involves understanding of the fundamental concepts of various aspects of management like Finance, HR, Marketing (where we have recognised specializations) and an analytical bent of mind and good problem solving approach. That does the trick to be successful in Consulting. But since, NYU - Stern satisfies, at a good level, all the criteria I listed out, its at no. 2. If you ask any alumni or consultant, what is the strength of NYU - Stern, they will undoubtedly tell you - Finance. But that does not downplay it's strength in Strategy/ Consulting. May be if you have some other opinions about it from its alumni, MC recruiters, we will look at it again..
