There is a huge difference between being a school captain and being a leader of industry. You are limiting yourself if you think that being a school captain will showcase your leadership potential. lots of ppl are school captains but few actually lead people at the work-place. The responsibility of leading people, of delivering a project and making money for your company is far different than the non-pressure situation of leading students at functions and events.
I do not know what you will talk about w.r.t your dad's biz so i cannot really say on that.
I'm sorry but you are either under-estimating Harvard or there is something in your story that'll make everybody go "Wow!" that you haven't told us

agreed...Honestly, my profile is quite average ( possibly not even average :sad ...can u please tell me whether they accept experience in family business...I am asking you this because whatever experience Ive had is while I was in college...but now I am planning to take it up seriously and assume greater responsibilities after college...2-3 years down the like will I be in a position to leverage on it if I make a positive difference to it ( which I am fairly confident of doing )...
i would be grateful if somebody could tellme if i am eligible to apply for HBS 2+2 programme..I am in final year of college and would be graduating in May 2009
cheers!!!

Hi all,
I have a BBA from Symbiosis, Pune - 82% (university top 2%)
Working for D.E. Shaw & Co. India.
Extra-curriculars: won several debates, dance, painting, national management fests
fund raising for university corporate cricket tournament.
For as much as I can see and analyze, the one thing that distinguishes me in terms of leadership is the fact that I have been a youth leader(elected) for the hyderabad chapter of Agrasen Samiti (a 50000 strong community organization) since I was 18 and have been spearheading community development initiatives in education, health and other areas.
Will this, coupled with a few years (2-3) of work ex make for a good profile?

Hi
could anyone throw some light as to which university would be suitable for my kind of profile. I am aiming for a 2011 fall admit.
10th std-excellent (one of the best schools) (topper)
11th std-excellent (again one of the best) (topper)
Undergrad-engineering-Industrial Biotechnology (81%)
Post grad- PGDM- from a top 20 college in India
Started career with a top Automotive firm as a sales trainee ( would complete 4 years of experience by the admit) .Now a manager and would move to Senior manager role by then.
No international Experience (as the company is very much an Indian firm so no opportunities till now)
Awardsfrom the company to honor my performances.
Very good extra curriculars with natiuonal level awards in various events
A consultant with A private NGO in my home city for 3 years now.
would like to move into international business and thus the need for an International MBA.
Could anyone suggest the good schools for me and in particular what extra should i do to have a chance to even think about harvard business school.
Thanx in advance...
It would be great if some one could help me out here as these my first steps to gain some info on international MBAs

Hi cryonerve
thank you for taking your valuable time with us.
BTW What are the required course-work, an HBS prospective aspirant must do.?
