Smile Good News - 20-01-2007, 02:23 AM

Friends, a good news from my side. I've been shortlisted for 1 year GMP program at XLRI (on the basis of XAT 2007). Got a percentile of 97.114.
Now lets hope that I get some positive news on 22nd too.

Thnx buddy. What is ur breakup? I too got only 97.114 percentile (less than last years 98.05). However this year my percentile in Quants was good (99.97) and I Think this helped me getting this call.
All the best for AIM interview call. Only two days to go ....

Hi Jha,
So What if you missed the XL bus, AIM is a much better college. Don't let this bus miss. If I'm getting admit from both these colleges, I'll definately join AIM Manila.
Don't worry with regard to preparation and all for AIMAT. Just go and write. You'll loose maximum Rs 2500 and on the other hand you may gain one year, 365 days.
Even if you are planning to write GMAT and apply to other colleges next year, I'll request you to write AIMAT this year too. Here you have the option of deferring your admit for a year, like Ravi Valecha.
Rest your wish. Keep posting.

Your words have once again ignited my enthu. I will take AIMAT on Monday 29th.
Yar ye 14 essays men se kuch essays to samajh men nahi aa raha hai kya likhun.
Can u pls pm me the draft or samples of following 2 kind essays? Or suggest some point yar.

b. Describe a major community activity that you feel is very important to you. Explain why you consider it so.

d. Aside from the present and the last two organizations that you have worked for, what other work experience do you believe will help you during your studies in AIM?

I have to finish approx 9 essays in next 6 days.

Don't worry yaar ... even I'd taken approx that many days only. It may seem a herculian task from outside, but once u'll start writting, it won't take that much time.
For above two essays, I think I was fortunate to have something to write about.
b. In my college, I'd taught a poor boy and had helped him to pass his class Xth board exam. and other than this, I am working with an NGO here, which handles CSR of the company I'm working with.
If you have any experience of working with NGO or u have participated in any such activity like, blood donation camp etc then write something about that. And if you have never indulged in any such activity ... to koi kahani banakar likh de... and end me likh de..."Though this activity has not won me any awards and accolades, but it has .blah blah." bas kaam khatm ... certificate ki jaroorat nahi .. rest ur wish.

d. I'd attended a two week training at IIM kolkata on basic management concepts. I wrote about that.
As in any of the essays, you don't get to write about the managerial skills you have learned in your present organization, write something here. and other than that write something like "while in my college days I was involved in organizing our cultural fest .. there i learned organizational skill, team work .. etc etc .." ....
Write about anything yaar ... and in the end write that there I learned this and that ..

Just start writting... anything and everything .. whatever comes to your mind.... and once u'll start editing, ideas and sentences will keep coming to ur mind....
All the best buddy.... dekh le ho jata hai to theek.. otherwise I'll mail you all 14 essays.
Apply to karna hai ... chhodna nahi hai .....

Re: Anyone applying to AIM Manila for 16 month MBA starting Aug 2007 session - 22-01-2007, 01:45 PM

Just now I spoke to Mr. Damodar. He is saying that he'll receive interview list late in the evening and afterwards he'll inform shortlisted candidates by mail. Also he was sayin that this year AIM has received approx 300 applications from India. He also informed that he'll receive list of selected candidates for interview in a phasewise manner, throughout the week. So we need not come to a conclusion till the end of this week.
So friends, lets hope fot the best.
