Re: Boston University admit - 09-01-2007, 12:50 PM

From what I know is that Fisher is a better school as compared to BU. A 50% scholarship and $550/month is a very strong option you should consider. In addition to the 50% scholarship you will be getting around $13k due to your stipend (over 2 years). Add to this the fact that you will be doing an on-campus job and that the summer internships generally will help you save around another $8K. I think most of your finances will be taken care of anyways.

But then again a full scholarship, the summer internship money as well as the on-campus job funda also applies to Boston as well. Between the 2 colleges If finance is a constraint then take up BU else Fisher is not a bad option at all.........

But thats just my view. I know a lot of people have left some very good colleges for scholarship money and i don't think they are wrong. In fact I may end up doing the same thing as even I am in a similar dilemma like yours and hopefully my dilemma will only increase by mid-Jan when I am expecting a few more admits

Confusing situation.
Boston is good for tech.
Also, I thnk Ohio doesnt have a specialisation in IT. Ohio also have placements limited to the state companies.
I would go for Boston.

Go through this link: Best Business Schools

Don't know how helpful or credible it is but I guess it is worth a look.

It basically ranks Fisher at 34 (with average repayment period of 3 years) and Boston at 46 (with average repayment period of 3 years) based on the ROI (Return on Investment).

However you should note that a similar ranking on Business week shows a very different picture in terms of the rankings. The High Price of Admission
It basically ranks Fisher at 12 (with average repayment period of 6.22 years) and Boston at 19 (with average repayment period of 7.36 years).

So I don't know how much you can base your decisions on these rankings but I thought it would be worth a look.

Re: Boston University admit - 10-01-2007, 08:20 AM

The interview is very conversational. There are no trick questions or questions which are off tangent. All the interviewer wants to do is to know you better as a person (I am sure you have heard that many many times but it is true )

The questions asked are all the basic questions like:

1. Why MBA?
2. Why now?
3. Why Boston?
4. Tell me more about this and that (mostly stuff from your resume)

so on and so forth. Give the interviewer a good well-rounded view of who you are and present him with a consistent story and I think you should be fine

Check admissions411.com for more interview questions asked to students previously.

If you have any other queries please feel free ask

Dude I read your PM. I am kinda caught up with work so won't be able to immediately reply. Plus I am not clear on what things you want me to elaborate on. I have sent you my cell number. Call me when you are free because I guess it would be much better if we discuss things over the phone. Else if you want I will reply to your query (based upon what I think you want to know) in detail by tonight. let me know what suits you better....
