Actually my friend suggested that it is more a finance school like Columbia not a general management program like HBS and it prefers people with finance background.

Based on your suggestion I would bring in some finance flavor into my essays related to my daily work as PM in IT co.
I dont think that is true that they focus alot of finance. Certainly not as much as columbia. The one thing that LBS stresses alot and is known for is internationalism. I for one did not have any finance background or knowledge and was from IT background. Yet I got an admit. I had not mentioned anything related to finance in my application or essays.

My suggestion is that dont go by what people say and write only those things that you are confortable with in your essay. The LBS interview is pretty rigorous and they drill alot in your essays and application- so play safe and dont write something that u cannot discuss to a great extent.

Thanks a lot Kirti. I get your point. I think I will stick to what you say and what I am best at. .
I think it would be great if you can share some of your interview experience, if you remember. It would really be helpful to the group.

One of my recommenders is confused with the following question. "In what developmental areas has the applicant changed most over time?"
Though the question may look a play vanilla question but probably LBS is looking into applicants growth in some particular aspects and not each and every aspect.

Though I don't know what he is going to write but definitely it is a very thought provoking one.
Any opinions .

I think its always like that. My recommenders have given me very pointed areas of developement and asked me to work on it and measured the progress eg, project estimatation, Domain knowledge etc.

i guess its always an aspect and thorough the 4 aspects( 2 each per recommender) your overall growth comes out.

I ve applied in R1 but no interview call [or reject] yet. It is supposed to come by Nov-17 through email. My app status still shows 'Applied'.

Even the R1 result deadline on Dec 19, 2006 has passed by 24h ago.

Keeping my fingers crossed X.

Also, I haven't heard any PG-ite with an LBS i-call/admit !

Profile:
GMAT 710
4.2yr Exp
IT, of course
Past Acads 87%, 97%, 87%
Decent extra-curr

Any R1 applicant heard something from LBS?

sauravrl, Kirti hit the nail in the head !

Fact : Every business school is good at Finance Becasue, that's the no.1 Employer of MBA's. I-Banks, VC, Hedge Funds. LBS is no excpetions. Again given that it is in London Finance captial of EU - it will obviouly strong at finacnce.

But as Kirit says, Its a very very very international school. The whole of Europe, Asia and some America applies and comes there ! Another thing about LBS is the switch to consulting it provides. A pan-european Consulting career with opportubnities in US.

Judge LBS by the way of its interview. An open case based interview. Having read ur application thorougly they call you to present. And imagine the crowd that lives through it and gets to LBS from across the world. Wouldn't it be an entropy ?

Re: London Business School(2007) -Interviews and Beyond - 31-12-2006, 08:07 PM

Lately I have been spending sometime on understanding some key aspects that the LBS adcom looks in applicants. I have picked up few things like international experience and global citizen attitude, leadership and entrepreneurial abilities etc.

Anyone has any other specific points.
