Hello,
Thank you for your message. As you may have read in my reply to Anuj, while we generally require students to have a first class in theiri academic career, we could be a little flexible on certain counts if the student has an advantage in other areas as we look at the profile as a whole.

Hi,
Thanks for your message. Actually this is a wrong notion that companies do not require people year round. Organisations plan their recruitments at a particular point only because most B-schools have a June intake and students graduate around that time. So there would be no issue about placing students who are graduates from the December batch.

Your placements would depend upon how you perform during the interviews.
Average salaries as mentioned on our website are about 8-9 lacs p.a. If you are from the IT sector but have specialised in BM, you may not necessarily be considered as a fresher as your previous work experience will be considered and even banks have IT requirements. Hence your knowledge in BM combined with your work experience in IT should hold you in good stead.
Hope all your concerns have been addressed.

But some of my seniors told me that there might be some placement issues as it is an Odd Batch..
They said that companies generally dont require MBA ppl all round the year as it incurrs a huge overhead in terms of salary ( unlike software engineers)

I would also like to know that would I be considered as a fresher in BM (as I've pursued my engg in IT n I'm working with Infosys, Pune for about 18months). Also, what kind of package can I expect if I perform well?

I hope you will help me in this regard.

Dear madhavan,
Thank you for your message.
As of now we have not yet commenced admissions for our June 2007 intake. We should be doing so shortly and all details regarding our aptitude test, admission procedures etc would be updated on our site very soon.

We endeavour to place each and every student to the best of our ability and so far our track record has been 100% placements. The average salaries for Marketing have been about 8-9 lacs p.a. for the last batch which graduated in June 2006.

I hope all your queries are sorted.

Can you please provide me the details for the following questions?

1) When does SP Jain conduct the aptitude test for this program?
2) How is the placement scenario in India and abroad in general (I want to do specialization in Marketing)
3) The mean salary

Thanks

Re: The Official SP Jain Dubai and Singapore - Admission Query Blog - 14-12-2006, 12:53 PM

Hello,
I shall explain to you the admissions process.
Post evlauations students are placed in 3 categories Offer, Waitlist and Regret.
Students who are found to have all of the crtieria that we are looking at and meet our high requiremetns are ofered a place in our instituition.
Students who do not meet any of the criteria that we need are rejected.
Certain students meet some but not all of the factors that we consider and these students are placed in the "waitlist" category.

As admissions are on a rolling basis, the waitlist is reviewed periodically from time to time and students found suitable are offered a place at SP Jain and rest are rejected.

All students are advised to keep checking our website regularly as their status is clearly put up on the site.
Incase students are unable to view their status online due to certain technical errors then they may call or email us, which you have done.

I hope I have clarified all your concerns about how we deal with students who have been waitlisted.
Thanks

Re: The Official SP Jain Dubai and Singapore - Admission Query Blog - 14-12-2006, 03:49 PM

Thanks Rutty Bharucha for creating a forum where we can clarify everything about SPJain Dubai & Singapore.

I wanted to know more about the superspecializations that SPJain offers. I am an IT guy with about 3.5 yrs of exp and with a GMAT score of 680. I am a little different from the usual IT crowd as im more concentrating towards ERP applications than into coding. I was curious to know if I could take my specialization in Logistics Management. Also in the admission process do you have any criterion for offering specializations or irrespective of their experience can they take up any specializations?

Another question i want to ask is about the placements. What is the percentage of relevant placements that happen at SP Jain. To put the question in a different way, What percentage of students with MBA in Logistics management gets placed into companies in Logistics management itself. It would be great for all of us if you could give an estimate of relevant placements in other specializations as well.

I have some more questions, but would like to ask them after this reply . I think the length of the answers would reduce if i ask more questions in one post itself  .... Im just kidding.....

Thanks a lot for your time..
Chetan

Re: The Official SP Jain Dubai and Singapore - Admission Query Blog - 14-12-2006, 06:20 PM

Hi madam Rutty Bharucha,

First i introduce myself in a brief.

I am a Mechanical Engineer and currently working in Infosys Technologies Ltd. in India , as a Software Engineer for the Past 2 years and 1 month.I came to know about Spjain dubai quite some time back and feel like its really putting my golden years in the college. I wanted to apply for the Dec-2006 intake , but could not as i had to go to UK for a 2 months job assignment.

so before i could come back, the admissions were all over.

now I intend to apply for june-2007 intake. but actually there are some queries from my side which i wanted to get answered. so please help me in getting my queries answered.

first of all , i am looking forward to apply for Global Logistics management, but as i say that the course is newly introduced not only in SPjain itself but also in an MBA curriculum (as far as i know) and the new batch will be passing out only in Dec-2007,so how the response of the companies looks towards it in terms of placements, etc in Singapore/Dubai? Again how does logistics management place the current batch in the market in singapore/Dubai.

Secondly, as i come from an IT background of 2 years and look to apply for Global Logistics management course, i will be percieved as a fresher or a fellow with an experience of 2 years (I will complete my 2.5 years in June-2007.)?

Thirdly, since the course has been introduced first time ,so it is not apparent about the profile of companies come for the placements . so i would be thankful if you could enlighten on this.

Fourthly , as it is known that SPJain shortlists candidates for its further stages on the basis of Gmat/Cat/SPjain entrance exam. I am planning to give my GMat in near future. so what is `the cut-off ,SPjain asks for the candidate getting shortlisted for any of the entrance exam?

looking forward from your side,

Thanks and Regards,
mbaplayer.
