Hi Youssef,

Wanted to know how the campus looks like and the facilities they have (apart from what they publish). Could you also tell about the people in Queens? I know Kingston is not a big city but could you tell more about life@Kingston?

There is always room at the top.

Hi Anil,
My interview was very casual indeed. Queens is a team based MBA program and is rated very high. You got to have worked with diverse teams and this would be surely one of the topics that Ben would discuss with you. Be very clear why you want to team based MBA, what have you learned working in team. what has been some of the challenges that you have faced, how did you inspire your team members, how has your experience been working with international team,

All the best for the interview, just remain calm thats the mantra

The interview lasted 25-30mins for me. Ben did not ask anything in particular about the industry in which I am working. You should have mentioned very clearly in your essays about your post MBA goals. But relax, the interview will be very casual and you won't be tensed. Relax

As far as the curriculum is concerned - no, it's not inclined towards IT and s/w profession.

In the past, Queen's had restricted admission only to people from Science /& Technology background. (Do remember that 'Science & Technology' includes a lot more career fields than just IT and s/w ). They probably did this to ensure that people won't have any teething problems with the Quant courses in the 1-year MBA program (otherwise, a 1-year MBA program could potentially become very, very hectic for people who have not been introduced to Quant other than the GMAT). People from an engineering / technology background would tend to pick such subjects easily.

They have done away with the requirement now. My guess is that the "non-Science" people they are going to pick would most probably have a good Quant score in GMAT, and other such background to prove their ability to cope up with the course.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Speculating - if you get into Ivey too - which one are you going to pick? (let's say - same scholarship, or the lack of it, etc.)

At present I am only worried about financing my MBA. Looking out for loans and other options. Also the deadline to submit $2000 is very near. Have a zero down on something or make a decision soon. Have any of you guys interacted with people from the previous batch to understand what percentage can be funded via scholarship. The course fees is around 25lakhs. I would be requiring atleast another $25k for living expenses, thats again 10lakhs, so it would be around 35lkhs for a year. Hope I am not missing out on anything here. Ok now given a scholarship would reduce this amout a bit. But then still I am trying to arramge this amout.

How about you guys, please throw some light and as to how you guys are approaching it.

Hi Barun,
I haven't yet started the loan application process.I am planning to apply for a loan from SBI(they need a collateral and interest rates are also high).I am also looking at PARAS and IEFC(but both of them need a US cosigner-should be an US citizen or green card holder).what other options are you considering for funding your education.

From my information, it will be very difficult for Indians to get Scholarship at Queens. There are very few scholarships and that too are mostly given to countries with rare candidature. Indians are applying in plenty, so dont hope too much on scholarship.

Sankar, Amit have you guys submitted the $2000, I am worried if I am not able to get a funding then my $2000 would go for a waste.
