I want to know if you guys did any comparison of Queen's MBA v/s Ivey before zeroing on to Queen's? Ivey's MBA is now 12-months (same duration as Queen's), so what made you pick Queen's over Ivey?

Anything specific about SBI? Which other loan options are you considering for Queen's?

Re: Queens 2008 admit taking questions.. - 10-12-2006, 05:25 PM

Its a good question. Queens and Ivey both are very reputed colleges in Canada and Businessweek have ranked them 1 and 2 for MBA programs outside US. Queens lays more emphasis on Team-based learning and have the program customized for each individual. On the other hand Ivey has a case base methodology of teaching. I think the teachning methodology at Ivey is very similar to Harvard. It is upto an individual to decide what he is actually looking out for. If you are working a lot with International teams and want to understand the dynamics of a team I would recommend Queens. They train you to shine and inspire team work. Also Queens has a personal trainer and a career coach for every individual student. The student to teacher ratio is amazing in Queens.
If you are very keen on Strategy and Operations then Ivey is the best place. Since you would be gaining a lot of insight into the different methodology followed by different companies. One word of caution here. It is very important for an individual to understand what he wants to gain and assimilate during a MBA program. Please do not make comparison in terms of placement statistics and post MBA jobs. The MBA experience should be a life changing experience and I am sure every individual would find the dream job after he completes the program.

To be quite honest I have applied to Queens and Ivey. I have an interview with Ivey on the 14th of this month. The Queens admit was pretty fast and soon. Would keep you informed about the Ivey interview

Queens MBA has been rated No 1 outside US by Business Week this year. Also it is now open to all the backgrounds as compared to Science and Tech background till last year..

The feedback about Queens has been very good.
Can you please elaborate on that?

Is Queens MBA course and its placements more inclined towards IT and s/w profession?

Are you interested to know about the placements opportunities or you interested to know whether the queens curriculum is designed for IT professional.
About the curriculum you can have a read here Queen's School of Business :: MBA Programs :: Full-time MBA :: Academic Plan

about the placements there are a lot of IT companies do come to queens for placements.

I am definite that their customized MBA program would help you gain some expertise in IT
