Well... have u studied undergrad in English medium.. then TOEFL is not a pre-requisite!!! U see... through out my education has been in English & also I have worked in an English environment (In India) through out.. so I guess TOEFL is not imp for someone like me & others too with atleast 2-3 yrs work ex!! They want a TOEFL only if u fail to show them ur english fluency...So, thass ok!!
GMAT is not only for ISB na....So, dont consider it as an expense only for ISB. And, as it is valid for 5 yrs... why cry over a small amount (small in terms of the money u choose to earn after MBA et al..).. So... dont consider all this as expenses... its all learning & education.... all u might have to worry about is funding the program... ... Take the risk.. get a loan.. kick start a MBA in a good school.. & pray that u will never have to look back....
All the Best....

Thanks for pointing that out Simba- yes then I wouldn't need TOEFL for ISB
But, if I'm going for funding- I would go all the way and not limit myself to ISB - Qs is how much risk can I take Ah, this exchange rate- a bit of a double edged sword, it is!!
Looking at my sig. for inspiration!
p.s. on second thoughts, I'd be saving one year in ISB | | | | | | | |

OK, I applied to ISB and am officially in the waitlist. Here are some observations, tips and hindsights:
5 years is good. Apparently, my 3 years were not enough.
If ur in IT, be prepared to radically distinguish urself from other applicants with a similar background. There are a lot of techies in the US, who want 2 come back to India, applying to ISB.
I guess the reasons I haven't been rejected outright are:
- I have (what I like to call) 'Watertight' recos.
- Good essays (without any ego, I can tell u that they were good).
- A decent GMAT score (720).
- The most important -> extra curric activities: conducting interviews for my co., team building excerceises, etc.
I guess the things that went against me were:
- IT industry ( a big no-no)
- 3 yrs work-ex (too less, I presume, compared to avg IT profiles of 4-6 yrs).
And Simba, what r u waiting for? It's high time u started writing ur recos. I'm blessed with above average language skills, so It took me 2 days 2 write and edit my essays( I was also under pressure to finish before the 1st deadline). I suggest u take a week to write ur recos.
I guess I'm cutting the char limit rather fine here, so check out my post under 'Other exams and b-schools'.

| all essays in JUST 2 DAYS !!
are you sure that it isnt the essays which did you in .. I mean draft/final version in 2 days is nigh impossible ... Quote: |
I'm blessed with above average language skills
| is it about language or articulation
& yeah, in the other thread, you mentioned that fee for ISB is 10l.. i guess tis been hiked this yr by arnd 30% .. thats excluding laptop costs i think .. Quote:

| IT experience .. damn right.. so many sooooooo many are there.. so no luck there ..
3 yrs work ex...... am not sure that is less coz am seeing others with 3-4 yrs getting in .. "Do you like storms?"
"Hell no.. they scare the crap out of me"
"Then why do you always go sailing when the winds are at their worst?"
"To be free of crap" whatever | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
