Would you recommend Goizueta to someone interested in marketing? Also, how receptive is the school to career changers? My background is in financial journalism and corporate communications but I'm really keen to go into marketing. Thanks for your help!

My full name is Deepti Agarwal and my interviewers name is Libby Livingston.

Hi Rightzz and BT,

Wonderful initiative this. I went through most of the posts and I feel that most of the admission hysteria has subsided for now. Now its time for ppl like us to start the cycle all over again !!

I am thinking of applying to Emory for the 2009 Fall season. I have given my GMAT and my score is 710. I was going through Emory's website and had a few doubts that I would like clarified (I read pages 1 to 12 and then from 51 to 61 on this thread so pardon me if there r repetitions)

1. I am an IT guy working in the banking domain. I was looking at commercial banking as an option. However, the electives and concentrations on the website hardly show any subjects related to Commercial banking. Finance shows an inclination towards IB. I would like to know if there is something that Im missing here? Also, would like to know what kind of jobs would be on offer for Commercial banking from Emory. This because I saw Bank of America, Credit Suisse etc as recruiters on the site.

2. I read somewhere earlier on this thread that Leadership is the specialty of this univ. Can you tell me how good is Emory for finance?

3. Finally, even though everything depends on the profile, do the trends show an older population(read as more exp) getting in? I would be having 4 years by the time I join Emory in 2009.

Thanks a lot,
Regards,
Anish

Phew!!!
Just finished reading each and every post of this thread right from page 1.. It has been close to 4 hrs and in these 4 hrs, I do believe I've made my decision:: Will be apping to Emory for fall'09..

Thanks Akshatpa, biztechie and Righty!! You've provided a lot of inputs.. I'm sure ppl like aammiitt, amit madaan and moversnshaker would continue the trend this year..

No. However, in that case one would have to take introductory courses in Fin, Eco, Accounting and stats...

Bringing one's experience helps in participating in class discussions, tying up learning with relevant business situations, and getting to the place you want to be post-mba. w/ex in years may not reflect the quality of that experience.... Hence a person with X years experience may not be "more-qualified" that a X-1 yr w/ex candidate.

So think about how your w/ex (in your case entrepreneurial) is going to help you build your career, how many of your skills are transferable to your post-mba position....an MBA is there to fill the necessary gaps.
