Hi Akshatpa,

I wanted your opinion on my profile. I was fascinated by Emory's 1 yr offering.

GMAT: To be taken

Experience: Would complete 5 years in April 2008 If I get admitted to Emory. Worked with American Express in Risk Management and Operations. Presently engaged with GE Capital in Finance. As of today I have 4 years of Workex.

I have already completed my MBA from a B Grade inst from India(I do have a strong reason for 2nd time MBA).

What are the prospects of mine considering that I get a GMAT score of 600 on worst case scenario.

Thanks for letting me know you opinion.

Narayan

regards,
If your interviewer is an adcom staff member, then he or she would know about it. If you have an alumini interview chances are that they may not know about you in detail.

Anyway why take chances, be prepared for the worst case.

I think even GMAT score mattered since 80% of the 1 yr guys have less than equal to 710 . Have a scholarship of $12500 per semester which is the best part.
Congratulations and Welcome to our community. Enjoy as much as you can. You will face a grilling summer semester.

See u in May.

Also , are all the rooms available in campus are double occupancy, is it cheaper to live outside campus ? How much time it takes in getting student visa. Are there my kind of profile in 1 yr there ( less work ex), if yes how has been there placement( i banks, consultancy).

Rest many queries coming your way in bits and pieces.
Thanks

Hi Gautam

1. As you are in one year prog, your course structure may be a bit different from ours. The professors that i had gave notes which is all i used for the course. didnt use the txt book much. Though it depends on prof to prof. pm me your contact details. will send u emails of 1 years who would be in a better position to answer these questions.

2. Though it is cheaper to live outside campus, Clairmont campus does have advantages like a shuttle service, fully furnished and all inclusive rent. Its preferred a lot by one years. If you want to work outside atlanta after completing your mba would highly recommend it. Though would not recommend if u are married and plan to bring your family. Most of the rooms are double occupany some are single (not recommended as rent is extremely high), others triple occupancy. Though you would have a private bedroom and bathroom in all cases.

3. Not sure of the present time for VISA. I have heard that they have changed a lot of rules lately. It also depends on the consulate. Chennai is the busiest and Mumbai gives the best service (my opinion). Contact those who have taken Visa this year. It took me a month last year.

4. Work experience does have some advantages and also remember that 1 year is not exactly intended for career switchers. You would have to work hard. Speak to the current one years to get a better idea. would give u the contact details as above.

Cant say much on the limited information except that i do not see anything amiss. You have worked with pretty good brands and that too american multi nationals. Would definitely help you in your career. This would be valued highly by recruiters here.

600 GMAT is a bit too low. try increasing your expectations by 100 points :=). On a serious note GMAT score of indian applicants are generally on a higher side. and that would be your competition.

Welcome Weekend invitees

All those who are planning to attend the welcome weekend the coming week, please free to contact the indian community at goizueta for any specific issues or any general matter. I have been in touch with a significant number of the admits and thus would love to meet you all in person.

Many of us will be there as volunteers and would be quite happy to help you increase your awareness about the school and aid you in your decision making process.

Looking forward to meet you all.

Regards

Akshat

psst : i have some extremely demanding courses and hence checking pg once a week. therefore there is a delay cycle of 7 days. please bear with the same.
