Manty | Hi Manty, how did the interview go ? I guess it was with the admissions director, Julie Barefoot ? I happened to meet her during the MBA Tour event today at Bangalore. Was a privilege to interact with her!
Also a heads up for fellow admitted students to Emory.... I was trying to obtain info regarding employment statistics for international students at Goizueta post their MBA; Julie had brought a very useful handout listing the companies which had hired Indian students from class of 2006!! Must say that the list looks pretty impressive . Would be happy to share the list if anyone's interested.
Akshat, could you provide any further inputs regarding your opinion of employability of internationals at Goizueta, post their MBA? How easy/ difficult is it for a (suitably qualified) Indian MBA from Goizueta, to obtain a suitable job (in the US) after the course ?
Regards

Hi,
My profile is :
Age 31, Male, Married, Indian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, work-ex 9+ years(4+ years international), IT, presently posted in Europe, currently Project Manager, engineering undergrad -- top college from India, GPA 3.3,GMAT 690(V 80, Q 86), AWA 6.0
Post MBA goal: Management, Biz. dev, and strategy roles in IT sector only. Can move to Management Consultancy also, if get a good role.
I am planning to apply to 1 year MBA option from Emory, May 2008 session.
My queries are:
1. Do you see my profile competitive for Emory 1 year MBA in view that I come from the tough Indian-male-IT pool? What is the best time to apply, if I want to win some scholarship? Any few words of wisdom from your side to make my application successful?
2. How is the recruitment scene for 1 year MBA, especially for persons not planning to switch career and looking for jobs in Atlanta region?
3. Can you please connect me to some person of similar profile(International, IT) from the 1 year program for guidance?
thanks | | | | | | | |

thanks | Hi jingle
1. The profile is competitive. GMAT though is less than average but should be compensated by your higher work ex. Try to focus (academic excellence) on this in your essays and resume. scholarship deadline 1st feb, though for intl aplicants the deadline was 15th dec, the adcom is still accepting applications on case to case basis.
2. recruiting is up this year. US economy is doing quite well and that is helping the scene. i m not sure of one year stats but in general its good.
3. i have floated your request on our network. pm me your contact details.
Akshat

-BT | sorry for the late reply.
indian students face the same problems as any international applicant, some companies do not like to hire to hire internationals and therefore there base is limited to an extent.
having said that indian students and intl students having adequate communication skills are considered at par in companies that do hire internationals. indian students have generally performed well and have generally opted for jobs in IB or consulting where they have been recruited by top firms visiting the campus.
refer to the stat by Julie, they would give you an idea of the kind of jobs opted by indian students. easy/ difficulty depends on the amount of effort put in the job search process. as of now two indian students have already secured 2 of 7 internships offered in I Banking till date (internships recruiting has just started). in full time placements 8 out of 11 indian students had a full time offer till 15th december (not sure of the current statistics).
i hope the above helps.
