It would be great if you can throw some light on the interview shortlisting process at Emory. Although it is something that my application has already been through, it will be help me prepare for the interview.
Thanks,

Hi Righty
congratulations on getting an interview call.
Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their academic performance, GMAT score, resume and essays. The main focus is to understand how clear you are about your career goals, what is required to achieve them and whether you have the required skills to achieve them. An area of extreme importance is How much do you know about yourself.
Once this is established, interview and in part essays act as a medium to understand your FIT with the school community. We are an extremely close knit group and the school would like candidates with excellent people skills (team & interpersonal), who are ready to help others in their development process while pursuing their own goals. Most importantly what is that you have to offer and whether that is a differentiating factor as compared to other candiates.
As far selectivity around 80% of the applicants are called for interviews. Do remember that in the initial cycle the school interviews a lot of candidates even before they applied to the school. Therefore the numbers are a bit skewed.
An interview call certainly means that the school finds you a suitable candidate for the MBA program. It is now up to you to show them skills that cannot be expressed on paper.
I have posted some tips earlier about interviews. Broadly
1. Treat it as a conversation. Emory interviews are very informal and the interviewer would take effort to put you at ease during the process. You are driver and should be able to steer the conversation the way you want.
2. Do not repeat what you have in essays and resume. They already know it.
3. Tell stories to showcase your skills. You call yourself a leader, do you any past examples to back it up.
4. Explore more about the school. Interviews are a great medium to gain additional information about the school. (Dont ask website questions). This would show your interest in the program.
5. Dont forget to send thank you notes. The interviewer is taking a considerable amount of time to speak to you. (So, what thats their job, just think whose gains more individually on a sucessful outcome)
Hope that helps
Best of luck
