I took GMAT this year and manage to fetch meager 690 for myself. Inspite of that score I dared to apply to few tier1 institutes in round 1. My applications and fate so far

Tepper - no news as yet, decision deadline is just around the corner.:(
RICE - interviewed (it went pretty well) and rejected.:(:(
Carroll, Boston College: haven't heard anything from them too, as yet.

I have plans to apply to few others in round 2.

So thats all from my end for my first post in this forum.

@Puys - Suggestions awaited.

Cheers,

I am planning for my MBA in marketing from some US university. As most of the candidates, I am very confused with the Universities.
Let me first give you my profile:
GMAT: 530
TOEFL (ibt): 109
Undergraduate: BMS (72.5% - Distinction with Honors)
Post Grad: PG in Event Management (72%)
Master's: M.Com- management (60%)
Work Ex: 3 years

I have shortlisted the below universities:
a) Thunderbird University
b) University of Texas at Arlington

I am confused on the below university:
a) CUNY Baruch University, New York City
b) Pace University
c) Golden Gate University
d) Long Island University
e) Suffolk University

It would be really kind of you to help me know more about the MBA in Marketing program from the above five universities. To be specific, below details will be good:
a) placement opportunities,
b) salary structure for graduating students,
c) scholarships and / or Graduate Assistance ship for international Students.
d) Reputation of Graduate schools of these universities

Awaiting response.

Thanks
Prashit.

Hi,

I am in need of some advice.

My GMAT score is 770.
I am planning to apply to US Bschools for Fall09. My interests are on the Finance side.

I am currently working in an IT company and would complete 3 years by the time I join in Fall 09.
What do you think are my chances of getting in to the Top 10/20 schools?

I currently have an admit from XLRI Business Management course and am wondering what I should do next.

My major worries are:
- Will I get into one of the top US schools?
- How soon will I be able to repay loans for these schools?
- Possibility of current credit crunch impacting raising of loan, placement options after passing out.

I thought I might be able to get a perspective from you that might help me on the way forward.

Thanks a lot!

I dont know. Nobody knows for that matte. Until you try, even you wont know. International MBA admissions are more than just numbers. You have to sell a story about yourself. If you cant, you wont be able to get in.

Depends on which school you go to, what kind of schol you get, and your final placement. You might want to read up further
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...e-payment.html (US MBA Loan and Re-Payment->Worth It? A Discussion)
- Possibility of current credit crunch impacting raising of loan, placement options after passing out.
Depends on you. In the US, YOU have to network and get the job. Companies dont visit campuses, YOU have to go after them.

I thought I might be able to get a perspective from you that might help me on the way forward.

Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, it looks like you havent done much research on the entire thing have you??

Thanks Neo2000. To be honest, I've been reading up a fair bit for the past month or so. Reading up in terms of Bschool profiles, median work ex requirements, specific courses offered, placements, etc. I am still trying to get through the plethora of content on loans and financial aid. Last night, I also did read the thread about repayment of loans (the one you've also passed in your reply)

So far, have found the picture to be rather fuzzy with a lot of conflicting things emerging. Therefore I was looking to get in touch with some people who've been on this path before me to gain some perspective of what I getting into. Thanks for the help.
