Just got a call from their side confirming my final offer...
I still hold that probably Australia would be a better option in terms of following parameters.....
1) May be cost is more but isnt the quality of education very good..I heard there are some courses which r taught by professors from harvard...
2) MBS and AGSM are the top schools in Asia Pacific.. ..may be better than IIMS of India..
3) Regarding VISA rules.. I talked to IMS GMAT head, mumbai...
he is an AGSM graduate..he says there is no VISA problem for MBS and AGSM graduates..He insists that these 2 schools get preferential treatment over there...
This is wat I have gathered..but I am novice in International MBA statistics...
Can u give me ur personal email id and phone number..
I want to talk u regarding this one a one to one basis..... |
Hey Priyank,
Congrats on your admit to NUS, SJMSOM and AGSM.
Here is my take on this. But at first let me tell ya that I have admits from NUS and top-tier US schools.
Truly speaking any B-school outside India faces some problems in placing students with less work ex and this is true for NUS, AGSM , US schools etc. This is when you realise that you get frustrated and loose the focus on getting the right job.
Secondly, if you are looking for a career change to lets say Finance or consultancy, then US and Indian B-schools are much better. Am not saying that career shift is not possible at NUS or AGSM, but isnt easy.. You might have to start afresh at the bottom of the ladder and then make the same effort to rise up as you had done as a fresher.
Thirdly,
Indian B-schools will use your work ex to add one more point to your score list while selection. Post admission you are as good as fresher and yor experiences are not cherished. This is definitely not an issue outside-India.
Do not take MBA as a catalyst where you can change your function and domain. Only is possible. What I mean is that you cannot change from a mfg company to Morgan Stanley without a strong purpose. It is possible that Morgan Stanley comes out with some product which caters to mfg industry , then you would be the right choice.
All said and done, I saw very impressive list of recruiters at AGSM and SJMSOM. Not to say that NUS doesnt have that.. But yes AGSM and SJMSOM seemed better on paper.
The big point about SJMSOM is that its a fast rising school and also you get a big brand behind you :: IIT... SJM SOM is the best in IIT 's MBA progs.. If you think that you would not get into that hassle of searching a job post "Foren" B-schools. SJMSOM should be the place. At the end, its your decision.
