Visa Interview Experience

Hi all,

Here goes my visa interview experience:


My no was called out pretty quickly and i was alloted window no. 2.

I was 3rd in the queue. The first candidate was interviewed for 10 minutes, the next for 5 minutes. Next was my turn.



Me: Good Afternoon maam.

VO( a young pretty indian female) : Hi...how are you today

Me: Fine thanks. How are you doing?

VO: Good

VO: So why do you want to go to US?

Me: To complete my MBA from Indiana University - Kelley school of business.

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: 10

VO: 10!!! why did you waste so much money?

Me: smiling

VO: you could have done so much of shopping with that money

Me: still smiling

VO: how many admits/ rejects.

Me: 8 admits, 1 waitlist, 1 reject

VO: See,.....I told you. You didnt have to apply to so many schools.

Me: Smiling.

VO: Why Kelley?

Me: Combination of a great program and Good ROI....spoke abt my scholarship.

VO: how will you pay for the remaining education.

Me: Family Funds

VO: Ok...Your Visa is granted... Enjoy your trip.

Me: Thanks.


No documents asked.

It seems that the only qualification required to bag the US Visa is to "smile " well

VM:So u r a PhD Candidate eh...
BM: Yes Sir !

VM: U donr with Matsres or BTech/
BM: BTech Sir!

VM: So u getting what Assistantship?
BM: yes Sir...Research Assitantship!

VM: Oh so u dont Teach?
BM: No Sir! I do Research!!

VM: Whats ur Research?
BM: Pardson me Sir !!!

VM: Whats ur Research??
BM: I am interested in the Research work of Mr.Daniel Shantz.He is
working on the behaviour of inorganic solids in the presence of
organic molecules how they behave and then this info is used as input
in the preparation of the inorganic materials.

VM: I dint understand what u said. Can u tell again!!!
BM: Sure Sir No problem
Sir I will be working on the Behavious of inorganic solid when they r
close to organic molecules. This behavious information is then used
for the prepartation of the inorganic moleules.

VM: what r inorganic Solids???
BM: Sir, Solids having Carbon and Hydrogen Bond are known as Organic
Solids and others which dont hav C and H r called inorganic solids,

VM: Hmm....So what type of materials wud u be preparing?
BM: It depends Sir, It can be anything.

VM: Is it related to military or somethin?
BM: No No No No No no...Sir !

VM: Medicine?
BM: Yes Sir. Medicine, telecom (I donno why i said this !!)
Anything...many applications.

VM: Oh what type.
BM: Sir suppose in medicine for Cancer treatment. They make small
materials and then inject into the body to a specific place and then
it acts specifically at that place and cures the diseases! Hehe i dont
know what crap this was....

VM: Show me ur underdgrad certis.
BM: (huh cool its over now yeyyy) Sure Sir here they are!

BM: Sir u want marksheets or..?
VM: gimme whatever u hav...Dont u hav provisional?
BM: I do sir...its at the end.
VM: Okies. U can Go home now...Byeeee
BM: Thanks You Sir

I request everyone posting the interview exp to post the date and the country for which visa applied.
