OK, Lets suppose by Aug-Sep 09, i give CFA exams and clear ,say, level 2. I also learn a language ,say, French or Spanish. Also, by then i would have two years of work-ex which would mean i would have 3 yrs of work-ex by the time i join the MBA program. Given my good performance at work, I should have gotten atleast 1 promotion by Aug09 and probably two by the time i join the program.
Q1. Keeping the above in mind along with my score of 780 and extra-curr (which i would be building on the side as well), would i be in a position to get selected by ,say, the Top10-15 universities?
Q2. Assuming the above and the fact that i get selected by a good univ, how much incremental Value Addition would i receive than by joining IIM A/B/C right now? Would it be worth the extra year and the collosal course costs..?
Q3. How does an Indian MBA fare against an International MBA for
i. Working abroad
ii. Working in India. | | | | | | | |

Hi Every body...
Before I post my query let me provide details of my profile:
Graduation: BCA (84%)
Industry: IT Services (Yes I am the technical nerd )
Experience: Total 4 Years including 1+ Year @ Onsite.
Goal: To become techno-functional professional in a Business. Basically a Business Analyst.
I need some favors and help regarding the selection of a college so as to expect the best return on investment.
I am not looking out for a College in US and Australia. So that leaves me with Europe, South Africa, Singapore and India.
I have been doing my research but then am not able to decide which one is better. They all are the best. Basically I need to concentrate on college selection criteria(s) and find out information about respective colleges on each criteria.
Secondly, I need to know ways and methods to fund the investment. All I can think of is a Bank Loan, but I dont think I would qualify for it as the kind of paper work and existing financial status required to qualify for a big loan. What are my options to fund the Cost of an MBA abroad.
Guys... I really need these information. Any attempt to it would be great.
Cheers n all the Best!!
Bharat

Q3. How does an Indian MBA fare against an International MBA for
i. Working abroad
ii. Working in India. | A1. Depends on how clearly you articulate your career objectives and goals + how / why an MBA can get you there.
A2. Depends on career objective + where you want to work (industry and geography). If you want to work in EU and earn the (never guaranteed) rewards of an EU salary you would have to take on the risk of EU costs.
A3. Honestly, there's no specific answer to that question, only opinions. You want to ideally get an MBA at a location closest to the gepgraphical job market you want to access. If India is that market, then study in India. If abroad, study abroad.
Good luck | | | | | | | |

Hi ,
As we know there are 3 or 4 rounds of application intake for B-schools normally, what does it exactly indicate ?
For example, many schools have their admission deadlines, first one on October, second one on Jan and the third one around april/may.
1) Is it seggregated only to make the admissions process easier ?
2) How does it affect Scholarship
3) Difference in rate of acceptance/rejections during any application deadline round
4) Is the volume of applications processed for any round remains same?
5) Any personal experience or observation on these different admission round and any advantages/disadvantages
Thanks,
Vinoth

........ | I do wish you had spent more time reading through the forum than asking this. You would have gotten all your answers. However, posting them one last time here. Are admissions round seggregated only to make the admissions process easier ?
Yes and No. Most colleges have 3 rounds of admission. As an Indian applicant you are advised to finish your application before the end of Round2 (R2). Let's say you have Rs100( number of seats) and you get to walk down a long list of shops(applicants) and buy whatever you want. In the beginning since you have a lot of money you tend to splurge but when you are down to the last 20bucks or so you become more cautious. Its the same way with admissions. In the beginning, they have more seats, lesser number of applicants to compare against and your chances are brighter. In R3, they are looking to round off the class so the competition is really tough. How does it affect Scholarship?
Same story as above. More money in the beginning. Less money in the end.
D ifference in rate of acceptance/rejections during any application deadline round
As mentioned above, get your application in by the end of R2. Try to avoid R3. Acceptance/Rejection rate Numbers are just a useless piece of statistic, that are interesting only when everything is over and done with. Are you really NOT going to apply if there are too many applicants or if the interview rate is low? Then why bother applying in the first place?? Or you'll console yourself with that piece of number? Doesn't work. Trust me. Is the volume of applications processed for any round remains same?
Depends on the number of applicants in that round. The college has no cut-off list. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Neo2000 For This Useful Post:

Hello,
I am Anil. I am a mechanical engineer (2004). My work ex includes 11 months in an infrastructure development company (International Airport Construction) and then shifted to IT sector. But, fortunately or unfortunately, I was never into coding, I was initially doing some engineering design and product lifecycle management stuff and then shifted to Product Lifecycle management in Telecom Sector, where my responsibilities include Process Consulting/Service Designing/ Product (and service) Launch Management. So my total IT experience is 3 years and total experience is 4 years (Sept). I am taking GMAT in August and if my estimation goes well my score range will be 690-720.
My confusion now is that I am not able to decide on what course should I be looking at, the options I am considering are SCM, Service Management, PLM, or should I get into Telecom Management (which makes the choice too specific, but I have valid experience). And if some one can point me to the schools which have such courses will be helpful.

Hi everyone,
Its my 1st time posting in this resourceful site.
I have got a small question: How do canadian schools (Ivey, Sauder, Rotman, Schulich & Hec Montreal) consider GMAT scores taking into account someones profile? (attached resume) ResumeLDP.doc
I have done the Gmat twice with bad results (biggest score 410) due to the fact as u ll see in my resume, that I work at 4,500 meters above sea level, 12 hours from home with a job schedule of 30 X 15 and really havent got too much time to study (in fact I study in my office -wake up at 6:30am everyday- from 8pm till 930pm, really exhausting taking into account my "low" stressing job -I receive 50 tons of food every week, 380 workers, 2800 clients... 5800 meals a day... cost control...etc)
Plz check my resume and some advice required!
