The progression is very important in your case since your profile has remained within the same sector/client/area of work.
Needless to say, I am bored ..............a managerial role.

To get out of this ......than project management.
Based on these, I think one year MBA would be sufficient. I don't want to take a huge debt also (Possibility of Scholarships will be a major factor). After 3-4 years, I'd like to go back to India.
Can you suggest some foreign schools and programmes which will be suitable for me?
I don't think any of the US b-schools with 1 year course are any good. You should be trying for IMD, Switzerland and INSEAD, France. You have the experience behind you and a good GMAT to boot. They are definitely in your reach. Also, you could try our very own ISB for that matter.

Stats -
B.Tech Mech, IIT, CGPA 7/10
IT exp 6+ years (3 in India, 3 in US)
GMAT 770.

GPA will not be an issue with you cause of a) your 6 years of experience and b) solid GMAT
My reply in bold, above

Cheers

Kindly suggest some Universities that suit profiles like mine...i am not too particular on the rankings of the Universities.

Hope to get some valuable advice.

Hi There,

Someone please suggest me some schools to app to

Here is my profile

GMAT Score : 700+(hopefully i am yet to write)
B.E: University of Madras : 80.1%
Exp : 4 yrs in IT
Extra Currics : Horrible , I do some yoga/meditation have some certs there and have won a few paper presentation competitions , run my own small IT Firm(am one of the 4 partners), have a silver medal in math olympiad, thats about it

I want an idea on what schools i can report my GMAT score to and app afterwards. Is it possible to report the scores on some day after I take the exam without paying anything.

Have worn many caps, done some marketing analysis, search engine optimization , been a project lead but was mostly a developer and a module lead.

Dont have any cash on me or in banks so cant really afford a US B-School unless they are within 15-20 lacs overall course mark and also offer a schol or something. Am considering the program MSc MIS, as a first step towards a future MBA and ISB as one of the schools where I can afford MBA.

Want to do MSc at LSE (London School of Economics) if i dont get a good BSCHOOL. Help on selecting a school, placements in LSE for MIS would be really appreciated.

Cheers,
--Badri--

GMAT - 600 with 3 yrs work exp in IT aspiring for MBA in US

Hi ,
I am working in a top IT MNC in Bangalore for the last 3 years after my graduation in BTech computer science. I am planning for an international MBA from US, either for a general one or specialisation in Systems.
I have taken my GMAT with a score of 600. Can you tel me whether it's enough to apply for the top 35-45 ranked universities for 2008 fall ? Or should I retake GMAT ?
regards,
Nirmal

GMAT Score : 700+(hopefully i am yet to write)
Let us assume it at 710 (average for Indian Junta)
B.E: University of Madras : 80.1%
That is a good record to boot
Exp : 4 yrs in IT
In itself, not much. But suitably expressed, you are like Iday @ Chicago GSB J
Extra Currics : Horrible , I do some yoga/meditation have some certs there and have won a few paper presentation competitions , run my own small IT Firm(am one of the 4 partners), have a silver medal in math olympiad, thats about it
If this is horrible, you should be shot! Jokes apart, it is important to show three traits: teamwork, leadership and growth in responsibility/involvement
I want an idea on what schools i can report my GMAT score to and app afterwards. Is it possible to report the scores on some day after I take the exam without paying anything.
You have to send the scores to schools prior to your exam. You will have to pay $ 25 bucks afterwards for each school.
Have worn many caps, done some marketing analysis, search engine optimization , been a project lead but was mostly a developer and a module lead.
Again, show teamwork, leadership and growth in responsibility. You will have to tie in all your roles to be able to say that they didn’t come to you by way of chance but by choice. Weave them together or you risk being perceived as a dabbler

No idea about the MSc thing but you should be able to get a good amount of loan if not full from some good univs on admission.

Want to do MSc at LSE (London School of Economics) if i dont get a good BSCHOOL. Help on selecting a school, placements in LSE for MIS would be really appreciated.
No idea on the placements but I would assume they are good because of LSE. However you might want to check in on the work visa thing in UK. They seem to be getting stingier by the day.
Also if you could zoom down to a major in MBA and a post-MBA goal, the school selection would be easier.
Cheers,

Kunal ,

Thanks for taking the time, i really appreciate the same, But there is a lot in here that I couldnt understand pls clarify .

GMAT Score : 700+(hopefully i am yet to write)

lets hope so I would love to get more than that too B.E: University of Madras : 80.1%

I cant understand what that means what exactly is Iday @ Chicago GSB sorry i am a novice in here and my lingo aint really PGish

That i guess I should be able to handle . Well what i meant by horrible is that I am not into any sports. Entered the semis in Pool at Motorola but have got no certs to prove that. I want an idea on what schools i can report my GMAT score to and app afterwards. Is it possible to report the scores on some day after I take the exam without paying anything.

Nah even with that 40Lacs is a bit too much from where I am now so I am thinking IMD, LSB and most schools in the US of A even if I get an admit arent really affordable. in fact they are for me prohibitively expensive.

I will remember the Visa thing,

What is it post-MBA, trick question I am a bit unsure in here. There are 4 things i am considering and am hoping will gain clarity in the school. I am not gonna say that in a school interview for i know they like clarity in goals but this is the truth hope u can help me out.

i) A strategy consultant , bailing companies out of problems, crisis management, giving ideas on what to do next etc
ii) A product manager incharge of a big product line in some good IT company (product company)
iii) A Marketing analyst for any big company
iv) I want to work for WHO or UNICEF provided it pays well

So that would mean my MBA majors would be SC or Marketing.

Expecting your help/pointers --- again

Cheers,

Re: Phoren B-school Assistance Desk
Fundagod,

I am in the same boat as you are right now.

My profile GMAT-750/ WE-2.5 Yrs (Steel industry)/ Metallurgist.

I gave my GMAT in May and was hoing that some one or my consultants will tell me the schools I should apply to. Take my word for it.....it doesnt work that way......neither it should.

Researching and then deciding from amongst the 40 odd top B-Schools is a hefty task. It took me 40 hrs to research around 30 B-Schools and then shortlist 10.

So, theres no shortcuts here dude. You'll have to visit the websites yourself. But its enjoyable. A word of advice - Dont just browse the sites absorbing all the info that comes up on every page. You'll go crazy. IT happened to me for the first 4-5 hrs of browsing. MAke a template with 10-12 things you need to know about the school (eg- expenses, city, location, recruiters, average pay packages, facilities etc etc. ) After making this template, then go hunting for the info in each B-school's site. You'll enjoy the process + u'll get the work done quickly.

Hope this'll help.

Kind Regards
M.R.

Hi All,
I have taken GMAT and awaiting my AWA scores.

With a GMAT score of 740 and 2 yrs of Work ex(with Amdocs,India - development) with no-so-great acads(BE 67%, 12th 90%,10th 87%) , is it suggested for me to apply to US schools now ? (not aiming for the top schools , setting eye on schools having rank 25-50)

I cant understand what that means what exactly is Iday @ Chicago GSB sorry i am a novice in here and my lingo aint really Pgish
Iday is a friend who has similar years in HCL. He got a 750 and is about to join Chicago GSB.
No idea about the MSc thing but you should be able to get a good amount of loan if not full from some good univs on admission.
Nah even with that 40Lacs is a bit too much from where I am now so I am thinking IMD, LSB and most schools in the US of A even if I get an admit arent really affordable. in fact they are for me prohibitively expensive.
That is a personal choice. Good that you have a checkmark to remove all schools that
What is it post-MBA, trick question I am a bit unsure in here. There are 4 things i am considering and am hoping will gain clarity in the school. I am not gonna say that in a school interview for i know they like clarity in goals but this is the truth hope u can help me out.

The choices that you mention cover a LOT of ground. No offence meant but that doesn’t show too much focus. I would suggest think some more and pick one or two and that could be your storyline.
So that would mean my MBA majors would be SC or Marketing.
Now you need to look at various schools that first can get you a cheaper MBA and then have strengths in the area that you eventually choose. This is an exercise done best by yourself. So I would suggest you start on and take pointers afterwards.

Cheers
