Hey Guys,

Does it help the cause if you have taken a loan from a phoren bank affiliated with the school?
Do you still need to show personal monetory liquidity in such a scenario or is an approved loan enough?

Any thoughts/inputs?

Cheers,
Aks

Well the approved loan is enough as long as its either in India or in UK. They dont acept any other country's documents. If the loan is from the US they expect the loan to be paid out into Ur bank account before U apply for the Visa.

And yes all Ur complete expenditure proof from the loan.

Hey thanks for the info Amit.
Can you give me a website where I could get a consolidated info about the same?

Also, could you elaborate on the complete expenditure proof thing?

Cheers,
Aks

Aks,

Complete expenditure means Ur tution and living cost for the duration of the course. If your wife is travelling you will have to show support for living costs of two people irrespective of weather she will work in UK or not.
So you need to show liquid funds(cash/Ds) for that particular amount.

I am not too sure about the website , what I know is from the session I attended.

Re: An Update on UK VISA requirements - 11-04-2006, 09:26 AM

thanks amit. first for starting this thread and next for answering my question. I guess i'll just get my dad to convert some of the money to FDs. Is that ok? regarding waiting for 2 more months, i don't think that is possible, as I will have to leave at the end of june

btw, any idea about the "prospective student" category? the problem is, I have a conditional offer from LSE, and I need to attend a summer school course before the start of the main programme and get a B in that course before the offer made to me turns unconditional. I am not much worried about that course, but I have heard that the ECOs don't issue visas if the offer is conditional. so from what i understand, i need to apply initially for a prospective student visa, which is valid for 6 months. i need to go there, attend the course, get a B, and then extend my visa. Is this correct? any idea?

And yes the FDs should be ok. What they are looking out for is the touts market which deposits money in your account for a day and withdraws it immediately after generating bank statements.

I dont have a direct idea about the prospective student VISA category but the process you have written sounds right. And yes you are correct that th VISA office wont give U a student visa without a un-conditional offer.
In your scneario I would say just check with the VISA office and find out if U need to show finances for your whole course or only for the summer school currently.

Re: An Update on UK VISA requirements - 11-04-2006, 03:52 PM

thanks once again amit!! i sent a long mail to the bombay visa enquiries asking them about all sorts of things, about prospective student visa and all, and i just got a 2 sentence reply that said

"Thank you for your email. You will need to apply for a student visa to do the "Managerial Accounting and Financial Control" course. Once you get the results, you can apply to the Home Office to see if they can extend your visa to allow you to do the Msc course.

I hope that answers your query.

i guess this means i just apply for the summer school course and nothing else..show finances only for the summer school course.....once i go there and get an unconditional letter, i'll then have to see what to do....

Ditto with me. I also applied for UK Visa 1 week back, but I've not heard anything back from them. From what I've heard, there is some backlog n processing teh applications at Chennai consulate now. BTW, Which consulate did you apply at and which univ. are you joining?
