I think lots of Indian applicants struggle to get right info about b-schools. Not everybody has any idea about which b-schools fit with their profile. So any Indians who are applying feel free to ask about anything in the procedure.
When I did this research 2 yrs back without any help it was really hard to get proper reliable info. So just want to make things easier for others.
I got into a few other top schools
1) Wharton 2) Cornell, with free ride 3) Columbia 4) Chicago 5) Emory with free ride (my safety school)
But decided on Stanford as this was the most exclusive brand (Plus it is in California, similar weather to B'lore)
So fell free to shoot questions, especially upto beginning of March as I am relatively free till then.
I can even personally meet applicants from bangalore when I am there. will Keep u all updated on my schedule.

PS: I got rejected at HBS | Wharton, Chicago, Columbia, Stanford!!!!!!!! great achievement dude...
I guess IIT with a 790 in GMAT is a deadly combination... | | | | | | | |

Hi DesiGuru,
Thanks for your wishes.
Senapati Stanford !! That's a new one.
There are actually 2 different types.
If you wanna get into to non-profit or govt (US govt I presume) then loan forgiveness upto 100% but decided case-by-case basis. I mean if u can somehow by gr8 luck get a $100000 non-profit job, no way would you be given loan forgiveness.
This year they also started a International loan forgiveness plan for international students. Details are yet to be put up, but if you decide to come back to India you should be eligible (I asked them specifically about this),
I asked them say I end up in London,Toronto (out of US but still gr8 salary) would I be eligible for loan forgiveness, they said again decide case-by-case basis but going to a ur home country would be preferable
About the loan forgiveness part, Stanford has started in just this year, so a bit sketchy about the details. Quote: |

Minister,
Regarding Funds mostly show personal (very little) and funds from relatives (I got my affidavits from so many relatives). I will take the no-cosinger loan, but I heard it is not smart to show loans to the visa officer in consulate. Better ask relatives (even-long lost ones) to sign affidavit even if you are taking a loan

[quote=DesiGuru]
I pulled off the free ride at Emory/Cornell by saying in not so subtle manner that I got into Stanford with little $$ BUT YET WANNA JOIN Emory/Cornell. So got a load of $$ from them. It's not exactly free ride but total costs (living expenses) come less than INR 8 lakh. So seems like a free ride.

Good Luck Senapati Stanford
For desi engineers Stanford is easily the best of the best... Silicon Valley, Lots of Money in the backyard... There's no better place for an engineer with an MBA
Looks like only sons of big businessmen get into HBS
I am amazed that a Bschool could reject an app like that

YAHOO. Really happy.
Got some little scholarship .
Beauty of Stanford is that if I decide to move out of US for first job most of the loans will be forgiven. So if there is some problems with H1 no problems, very little loans.
