Himanshu,

This ratio is only for Oxford. You can check the other schools selectivity and yield at http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/05/geographic.htm
675 is the total number applied, with a selectivity of 52% 352 students were given an offer and 225 students accepted the offer.
I have had a look at toher MBA programs too and the number of applicants do seem to have gone down.

1) OX middle 80% GMAT range was 640-720 and I have a 710.
2) They do have descent placements, check their website for a detailed placemnt report.

Well the main thing you loose out in a 1 year MBA is the chance to network and make friends for life. The other main thing is that you miss out of the internship, and the chance to use the internship to bag a job. Plus it gives you a better chance to switch careers.

The 1yr MBA is more intense and saves you a whole 1 year thereby significantly reducing the opportunity cost. The 1 year MBA format is popular in Europe.

hello everybody. just like many of u guys in the forum, i too have an offer of admission from SBS oxford.

yes, financing is a prob. if you have a US co-signer u can avail a loan offer from the paras education society without any collateral. without a co-signer i guess a person will have to scout for options.

can anybody give me more insights into how does a UK mba fare vis-a-vis a US mba? will it be wiser to get into a lessr know US univ? furtermore i also have offer of admission from HEC paris. they r offering about 50% schol, and in the 2006 ft ranking, it is just 2 nothches below SBS. need advice from u guys on that front.

i am ever ready to get in touch with u all personally. my contct nos-0124-3940026(res), 0124-4047631 ext-115 (off), 09868039635 (mobile)

Dheerin,
The only scholarship which is open is the FELIX and getting it is next to impossible as there are roughly 2 schols for all of Oxxford graduates.
Plus I beelive you have applied for the Balliol college and it has one single small scholarship for SBS students.

Re: Admitted to Oxford - 07-02-2006, 12:51 AM

HI Saif..

Here is my logic for opting oxford...
see if it suits u.

For most of us.. the big idea behing the MBA is a high paying job.. in a well recognized firm etc etc..
Unlike Bschools in India. placements work with Alumni contact and placement cell relationship with corporates in the region/country.
So there is no DOUBT that the Oxford brand name will definately help you build a stronger alumni network and help you win job offers..

Oxford has fantastic placemenst for mgmt consulting and banking sectors.. if thats ur aim.. go for it

And what more info do u have about the Paras thingee ?
i have been trying to find out about that ..

Cheers

Re: Admitted to Oxford - 07-02-2006, 12:31 PM

dear dhherin,
thanx for the info. yes the pars loan is my one and only option now. and they have a mandatory requirement for a US cosignor. though i have some relatives in the US but i wish i did not need their obligation. but its certain now, that i will have to take their help. also the max amount of loan is 25000 pound so ull have to take loan from an indian bank here.wat a pity, oxford doesnt have tie-up with any bank!!!!!!!!. i woul like to ask u all if SBS declares its schols after confirmation? (i mean the institute ones)

Question Re: Admitted to Oxford - 07-02-2006, 08:58 PM

hi everyone-
I applied to SBS in round 2 and have got an interview call. Although I can take the interview in Delhi, I have decided to travel to U.K. instead. I have a few questions and was wondering if someone here would have the answers:
1. can anyone tell me what kind of questions to expect at the interview. I have gone through the post by "nagsformba". does anyone have anything to add to that?
2. Has anyone here attended a personal interview? how's the general mood at the time of interview? Is it very formal/stressful/relaxed/or what?
3. what are the kind of questions that I should ask the interviewer (I am interested in entrepreneurship, should my questions be directed towards the same?).
4. Lastly, will the university provide any documents that will help me getting the visa? I wrote to Ginny Madeley (admissions assistant) a few days back, but I haven't heard back from her yet.

any help would be highly appreciated.
thanks
-Deepak
