DO NOT come without having any work expereince, you will hav a very hard time getting a job in USA.
the best thing for you would be
work for a US company like JP Morgan or a company like PWC or KPMG which are very big brands here,
work for atleast three years,
then try ur luck here,

Thanks dude,
But how about specialised courses like MS finance/marketing. Will it be
easier to find a job then?

here is US u get job on the basis of what u hav done in the past.
all these mba, ms, are just operational degrees.
if u get in the top 10 institutes, then it is a different matter but for them a work exp of 5 years is mandatory.
so my frank advise is dont come unless u have an exp of atleast three to four years and that too in an american co or a multinational co.
even if hult or some other institute offers an addmission, do not take it.
get some exp under ur belt.

By some exp do you mean 6 to 8 months? Suppose I work with an MNC (like google) as a trainee, till say around Feb 2008 by which i would be completing 8 months, is that sufficient to atleast land me a job (even as a trainee)?
I would also like to know abt the work permits? How much time will they give to find a job after completing the degree? I heard about the OPT thing, will they convert it into H1B only if I find a permanent job (not a trainee)?

8 months is as good as no work experience. You will get one year to search for a job. bt again try to work in google or any other MNC for atleast 4 years.
dont rush it up. otherwise u might hav to come bck 2 india.

What abt this H1B thing?will they convert OPT into H1B only if I find a permanent job (not a trainee)? Also could you name some advertising agencies (MNCs)?

u get an H1B if the company files it for you as a permanent employee.
i.e when the company is satisfied that they would not easily get candidates like u.
good advertisement agencies might be O&M. Honestly i am not sure abt the rest.
what kind of work do u want to do here in USA????

Hey sumit,
I am Venkatesh....and am seriously considering Hult as an option...I am also meeting the hult representative tomorrow...your postings are indeed very helpful!! i d be grateful if you could also post ur comments after talking to ur seniors as well....neways I guess it is a normal practice abroad nowadays not to have compus placements and gettin a job within 3months...so the seniors' views will be really helpful....moreover is it ok if I talk to you sometime
Regards,
Venkatesh
quote=sumitsood]guys,
let me clear your doubts.Hult is a very good school.it has an excellent faculty, people who are real time consultants and is the best school according to me for learning international management and to understand cross cultural teams. the study material, the faculty the teaching methodolgy is excellent. now regarding placements, apart from the top 10 colleges and a few others, the placements are not provided by the institute. i checked again the placement statistics for my senior batch and have the following information.
a couple of students have got placed in companies like caps gemini, bain consulting, kpmg,
british petroleum et.c. the real picture would become clear in march.(after 3 months of graduation). having the said that, i think if you start early, i think getting placed is not a problem in U.S. more over you have full one year in OPT to figure out the job. the best thing about the school is that you develop friends from all over the world and the faculty actually becomes yuor mentors in real life.[/quote]

regarding scholarships, the fee earlier was $40000 but now they hav reduced it to $22500.
so you will be given an automatic scholarship if u join this aug.
having said that, if u get above 700 in GMAT , u can seriously bargain.....
total cost for you guys shall be $22500=fees + 3500=pre mba+8000 living.
take a budget of $36000
the GMAT required is not very high. if you are over 600, guess u will make it,
but they like people with high work exp.
some statistics about our class are as under.
total students=69
nationalities represented=23
average GMAT=590-600
average age=30
age range= 22-47
faculty=A grade
some information regarding the institue and other e.t.c is as under;
actually this is a very old school. it was formerly known as the arthur d little school of management. the faculty of the school can be compared to the best.
the economics professor is a senior partner with Arthur D little and is Phd from cornell.
the finance prof is CPA+MBA+BA+doctroate from harvard.
the accounts prof is MBA from Stern, formelry with Citibank and is widely published.
the H.R prof is Harvard grad and is consultant to IBM.
the other fin prof is on the board of harvard.
the course content and the methodolgy of instruction is impressive,
we have 11 indian students in the current batch,
one guy was G.M at siemens,
one was project manager at TCS,
one is a CA and was deputy manager at Indo Rama,
one is a Phd from singapore,
one guy from japan will join back as partner
one guy from korea has an offer for V.P
again the list is long.....
regarding Boston, it is one of the most amazing places i have seen,
and again it is close to NYC also,
regarding the shortcomings,
the students are very diverse,
from countries like vietnam to japan to mexico to philipines...
hence the students are not that competitive......
regarding the infrastructure.....
the institue does not have its library,
but at the same time u are given a libarary card and u can access 18 libraries all over
boston including those of MIT and BU e.t.c
the college is very small and operates from EF building.( they will be shifting to a bigger campus in a short while).
the career servies cell has nothing to offer....
u hav to be on your own to get a job.
thanx
